I'm a dedicated & fanatic family historian & have been on THE QUEST since 1955. I can concentrate on my ancestors but get easily side-tracked by in-laws & the cousins of cousins of cousins, if you know what I mean, & if you love family history as much as I do, then you do know!|
"As we think well of ourselves, let us remember that we are standing on the shoulders of the generations before, for if they had not come, we would not be here."
+ REMEMBERING A US MILITARY VETERAN +
"A US military veteran is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.'"
THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
By Thelma Greene Reagan
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Thank you for transferring the memorial for Judy Waller to me. I truly appreciate your dedication to this wonderful website. God bless you for your hard work. It is because of people like you our future generations will have a link to their loved ones.
Thank you for posting the memorial for Julia Waller. She is my dear mother-in-law and is missed terribly. Would you consider transferring ownership of this memorial to me?
Thank you, Cemeterian

Thank you so much for this memorial. I was born in 1942 the same year as Carline and never knew about her till I saw her memorial. I find it so important to document the near past as well as distant generations because like me so many of us are not aware of what happened in our families when we were children. Hope to visit her gravesite the next time I am in Nashville. I am still amazed. Indeed thanks to your kindness, Carline will not be forgotten.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. These cemeteries are often mixed up on death certificates. I've deleted the memorials.

I have been looking for pictures of my mothers burial site. I want to thank you very much. I do not live close but wish to stay close to my mother. It means a lot to have a picture to hold onto. thanks

Thank you for your suggestion regarding Mary Fitzgerald's memorial. May I ask how you came to be interested? I have seen her death certificate and obit, and have come to the conclusion that the informant did not give accurate information. She definitely was not born in Cork, but her father was.
Reading your bio, I want to thank you for all your work on Find A Grave. It is volunteers like you that provide us armchair genealogists motivation and lots of fun. I have had many discoveries myself on Find A Grave.

I added headstone photos of GD and his parents today. I left his birth year as 1875 because that is what is on his headstone. There is not a marker for his wife Nettie so I am going to check with the office to see if she is by chance in an unmarked grave or somewhere else at Spring Hill since her Death Certificate states she is buried there.
Thank you for the information.
