I'm a dedicated & fanatic family historian & have been on THE QUEST since 1955. I can concentrate on my ancestors but get easily side-tracked by in-laws & the cousins of cousins of cousins, if you know what I mean, & if you love family history as much as I do, then you do know!|
"As we think well of ourselves, let us remember that we are standing on the shoulders of the generations before, for if they had not come, we would not be here."
+ REMEMBERING A US MILITARY VETERAN +
"A US military veteran is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.'"
THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
By Thelma Greene Reagan
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Thanks for adding the alternative information regarding his possible parantage.
|Julia Wright Molitz||Berry O Neece Rose Hill Cemetery|
Thank you for bringing to my attention the parents of Berry Neece. I just looked up several records, marriage, death cert, census and city directories then up graded Find A Grave for the family. This is not my family but rather I walked the Rose Hill Cemetery in Fayetteville, TN many years ago to collect head stone information.
|Brian Winter||Elizabeth Helser memorial|
Welcome to FindAGrave, and thank you for sponsoring Elizabeth's memorial. I see that she was your 4th great grandmother. She was my 5th great grandmother on my mother's side through Mildred Constance Puterbaugh, so it's great to know you.
By the way, I have been very pleased with this website and the vast majority of people who contribute to it, and I hope it is a help to you in your family research.
I noticed there was no headstone photo on this memorial, and just requested one, so we'll see what comes of it.
Again, thank you for your sponsorship.
thank you very much for sponsoring this memorial--it's so rewarding to have this happen.
I took several hundred photos at this cemetery this summer and will be posting them to FindAGrave in the next few months. I hope to find more of the Sawyers and their related families.
Thank you so for sponsoring Hiram & Relief Hecox memorials!
I've also added the corrections that you've suggested.
Welcome to Find A Grave and good luck with your ancestor search.
