Bio Photo Thanks to all the people that have transferred memorials of my family members to me. I want to wish everyone a very healthy and prosperous 2015

I find it such an honor to be able to join people that have been separated for so long, especially children that died at birth or passed at a very young age. Even if just virtually it always gives me a special feeling so that others might not have to dig around to find they even existed in the first place.

For what it is worth, I want to thank all the selfless members who do this to honor and respect those who have passed. To sincerely thank them for the countless hours that they have contributed walking the cemeteries photographing or creating & maintaining memorials.

I thought I might borrow what Jeff Gonyea on his Find a Grave profile:

"We don't "own" the memorials we manage - they are not ours. We may create them, we may update them, we may transfer them to others - we are but stewards. They are Find A Grave memorials of human beings, departed. They are not "friends" on a social media network website to be collected like baseball trading cards. And there's no prize for the one who dies with the most.

The reward (for me) comes from maintaining the most accurate and dignified memorials I can. What we record becomes history, and a record in someone else's family tree. We have a responsibility to do a good job of it. It's a privilege and honor."

Well put Jeff and I just wish more of the people could soak these words in.

Nancy Minerva Ellison
Hi,
Thank you for kind words and for helping me to correct any mistakes. I wrote to the person who created Minerva's memorial and gave him her bio. I told him as soon as he added her bio I would of course delete my memorial. I cannot open my FTM at this time or I would delete it now.

Thank You Again,
Kathy

No worries...with respect, if a persons body has been destroyed but the place of death is known and its not a cemetery burial or a grave , its still legit

You can use my photo. In fact Find A Grave is now owned by Ancestry, hence photos owned already!. Sure I would love to be your friend!

James R. Hardy
I looked at archives.com for an obituary for Mr. Hardy but did not locate one. I was hoping that would help answer the "widowed" question.

Since the informant for Mr. Hardy's death certificate is also deceased, this is probably one of those things we may never know.

I'll keep an eye out, and if I find anything, I'll be sure to let you know. Thanks for the link to his wife. I've gotten it posted.

Blessings,
Janie

I've transferred Lela to your care as she nor the Wedgeworths are my relatives. Yes, go ahead and use photos I've added to FindAGrave. It's OK to add me as a friend; I'll add you to mine.

Thanks, Jean

Just checking to see if you want to manage this memorial as you manage her parents. I was searching some folks in Colbert county, AL, which led me to James Monroe Wedgeworth, Lela's husband. Census data is on his memorial.

Hello. Cemetery covers several hundred acres. Only way to locate grave is with section and lot #. If doing family tree, "FAMILY" service will be helpful with info. Phone number is 713-928-5141.

Hmmmm, I just got back into town and received your message about Abijah's memorial. If I remember correctly, this was transferred to me sometime after I had a similar discussion with the original poster. Looks like I didn't go back to correct it. Will look it over and correct it with my research/records when I have time this evening.
