"We actually don't fear death. We fear that no one will notice our absence, that we will disappear without a trace". (unknown)|
People come to Find a Grave for many reasons; genealogy, curiosity, closure. People volunteer on Find a Grave for many reasons; genealogy, curiosity, closure. Sadly, some are in a contest to see how many memorial pages they can put in, mistakes and all, and they hold tight to those pages they've created even if they aren't related to them at all…for them it's all about the numbers.
My friend, Melinda Fowler, and I started doing this for our own families and then it quickly became something bigger…it was about other people's families. We have gotten such satisfaction out of fulfilling requests and everyone is so grateful. But it is "we" who are grateful for the opportunity to honor your relatives. We're not in this for the count, but for the gratification in connecting relatives and for recognizing the need to say "I WAS HERE".
p.s. I take a lot of random pictures in the Danbury, CT and Westchester County, New York area. If I should happen to run into your family and you would like to take ownership, by all means let me know and it's done. Families should stay together!

Linda, from what I can tell is EVERY photo that was posted on June 21..... flew all over the US.
That was one of the days that Ancestry came under cyber attack.
I had loaded several temp. markers that day, and started getting emails shortly after that they were showing up all over the US.
Now that the headstones are placed I am finding the other photos. I found three today.
Thanks for deleting your photo!

I was just getting ready to place a photo of Margaret's headstone and noticed one of your pictures on his memorial. It is not a photo for Margaret, and my guess is that you uploaded this photo on that strange day in June when all of our photo's ended up all of the US.
Would you please delete your photo from Margaret's memorial?
Thank you for all of your time and talents in the Find a Grave Community.

Thank you so much for the photos you posted of the Landsiedel headstones. They are my ancestors- Charles is my great great grandfather. We used to visit the family farm in Danbury often when I was a child. I've always wanted to take a trip to Wooster cemetery but haven't had the time to travel there. Thank you so much for taking the time to photograph and share their headstones!!
