Bio Photo Hello from New Mexico.
I've been excavating and cataloging pioneer cemeteries for over 30 years. In the 1980s I even published a few works on the subject. Like most of you, I'm also an avid genealogist. While I enjoy finding the graves of famous people, I'm more interested in the common soldier and pioneer. Every one of them has a story.

As for genealogy, I am currently working on the surnames Trine, Minter, Dozier, Shackleford and Marquez. I'm also collecting the names and graves of the Maryland 6th Infantry.

I'm usually "on the road," so my photos come from wherever I happen to be. I've had the pleasure of meeting hundreds of wonderful people who share this love for history. Contact me if I can be of any help to you.

RE: Friedrich Harfst and Wilhelmine
Thanks, Eddie,

I would be delighted to have you transfer them. I think that they are cousins, but I need to consult daddy's genealogy papers to be absolutely sure of which degree. We are from northern Illinois ourselves, and all the Harfsts are related, although there have never been very many of us. When I come back to Illinois next year, I plan to visit as many family graves as possible. Thanks for finding so many for me!

Hi, Eddie,

Thank you so very much for the photograph, and for adding a memorial for my cousin's wife! I greatly appreciate it. The stone is so legible, too, even after a century. You take a good picture. Thanks so much!

Virtual Cemetery
As a suggestion you might consider creating a public virtual cemetery to showcase the Maryland 6th Infantry burials. Sounds very wonderful!!

RE: Bluemke
Thank you again for everything. You may be right about George being a grandson. I will have to do some more searching. Yes, in census records Johann went by John. I've seen his name both ways. I just had no idea where they were buried. I am so happy to have this mystery solved. Thank you for your time and help. It feels like I can reunite the family now. Have a great day!!! :)
