Bio and Links
Bio Photo Born Annabelle Mary Henderson w/o Jesse Rupert (Columbiana County) and d/o John Cassell Henderson born Newport, Kentucky and Mary Beaton Jenkins born Glasgow, Scotland. Jesse Rupert is s/o J Vernon Rupert born Columbiana Co, Ohio and Mary Paden.

Only paternal roots in America, I follow a path to Fairfax Co Virginia (grandmother's name Pritchartt).

Some interesting facts discovered about my family:
Henderson, Nevada named after my group.
The Hendersons still operate the oldest family owned Drug Store in America to date called "Henderson's Drug Store" founded 1841 by Osborne Henderson in Glasgow, Howard Co Missouri. The oldest Henderson in my group, lived to be 104, Dr. Joseph Lewis Henderson as did his sister.

I have no biological connection to Ohio and
will transfer any memorial in Columbiana/Mahoning Co Ohio to persons with interest.
I check and work on this daily, update edits and will respond to email/corrections, etc promptly. Please note as I have posted many memorials from the cemetery index volumes, Audrey Allison has brought them to life by walking the cemeteries, photographing and posting headstones to thousands of the memorials. It is a joint effort by many.

And Please....
To all who so righteously remind us the primary purpose of Find a Grave is "GRAVE REGISTRATION", and then "boringly" recite in your bio the FAG rules... yes we get it! To the group I work with, (look at my friend's list) it is a mere "starting point" as we all work together, share, and seek to know more about the folks, what they looked like and where they lived as we "register their graves". All of us will go to great lengths to find out more!. .. to sum this up they are "NOT JUST A NAME ON THE A STONE"!

GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT THIS YEAR - Placed a military marker on an unmarked grave... After a long search for military records for a great uncle who was a Conf Soldier, I finally secured them and had a military headstone placed on his grave after 114 years beneath an unmarked grave!! He was Pvt John Norvell Caskie. Thanks to Angela Smythe who had an interest in the Caskie family and provided a copy of military record that made this all possible.

Next acomplishment in progress:
Aug 18, 2014 - Stone to be placed on great grandmother Maria L Bingham Pritchartt's grave who died in 1859 from anemia. Stone is completed and to be set in plot St Louis Mo. She has rested for 155 years in an unmarked grave, but that will be no more. I guess that is why I was chosen to do what I do. Amen

Henry Minter, again
Hi Anne,

To continue the saga, I went on to Ohio to visit both the Ohio History Center in Columbus and then Mahoning county to find the grave. The history center was impressive but yielded no results. I was informed it would take 3 to 4 weeks for them to locate a death certificate for Henry, if one is available at all. They would make no allowances for the fact that I was not from the state. I did go through what material was available, but that was little more than what we have on line.

I've decided to just move ahead based on the estate papers of the son, and send you links and some information for Henry. I'll also send a brief biography to add. Nothing we do cannot be undone if there is a mistake, and perhaps someone will send us some corrections or additions.

Thank you again for your help.

RE: Henry Minter
Hi Anne,

Thank you so much for your speedy reply and the information on his daughter, Elizabeth. The information you sent does give me hope. My Henry Minter's eldest daughter was named Elizabeth, born in Carroll County, MD. My records indicate 1833, so the time frame is correct as well.

What does not match is the wife's maiden name. I have a record which shows he was married to Elizabeth SLAYBAUGH; however there could be a dozen reasons for that, not the least of which being that my information is in error.

It has been no small task. There were four Henry Minter's born within two years from the same area. The names of their parents were similar as well. It has taken me 10 years to untangle and rule out three of them. Now you've located the 4th, who was christened as "Heinrich" and that gives me hope. While the internet is a good tool, I sometimes find that the same mistaken information gets repeated time and time again. Before I request any links I want to see what I can locate in the written record. I am now planning a visit to Mahoning County to see what documents I can locate.

My sincere thanks for your reply and for all your work on Findagrave.

Thank you for the Galveston Daily News obituary on him. The addition to his bio took him from ordinary to extraordinary! I am now curious about his illustrations in Texas Siftings and any other publication. Hopefully others will be as well.

Stone photos in the Columbiana Cemetery
Hi Anne,

Thank you so much for all the stone photos you took in the Columbiana Cemetery. And thanks for looking for those that are now missing - at least we now know where they are buried.

It's such important work capturing the images of those tombstones. They are obviously fading away.

Thanks again,

Anna Needham
Here is what I have listed under John Lockard's memorial. (John & his wife are buried in the same plot with Anna Needham.)
"In 1880 he (John Lockard) is married (1871),35, and living in Clinton twp, Lawrence Co,PA working as a miner with his wife, Mary and a "daughter" Annie who is born 1869, (and on her death record, she says that her father is John Groves, a neighbor in 1880 who is actually her grandfather) so she is John's step-daughter."
I would imagine Anna was illegitimate and that's why she took her grandfather's name and then later her step-father's.

Anna's mother was married to John Lockard who had no children of his own. Apparently Anna considered herself his daughter and took his name.
