|I have been researching families for the last 25 years. I love to volunteer to help others in their searching. I had my 80th birthday recently so I am getting up there. I've had a lot of help from a lot of good friends!|

MILDRED E. DUPRIEST
Mildred Elizabeth DuPriest (nee Abbitt) of Petersburg, VA, died at the age of 96 on Thursday, January 15th, at the Petersburg Home for Ladies, where she was a 16-year resident. She was born in 1918 in Victoria, Va, the daughter of Joseph Hunter Abbitt, originally of Appomattox, VA, and Ruth Edgerton, originally from Afton, New York. In 1939 she married Travis Talmadge DuPriest of Crewe, Va.
A graduate of Madison College (now JMU), she taught science and chemistry at three high schools: Crewe, Petersburg, and Colonial Heights. Her hobbies included flower arranging for which she received many awards, oil painting, reading, saltwater fishing, and traveling with friends throughout the States and Europe. She was active at First Baptist Church of Petersburg, as well as with historic preservation and art organizations.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Talmadge DuPriest, Sr.; her three brothers, Alfred, Raymond, and Joseph Abbitt; and her grandson Talmadge Abbitt DuPriest.
She is survived by her brother, John Alexander Abbitt and his wife Anne Bing Abbitt of Wilmington, Delaware; her two sons, Travis Talmadge DuPriest, Jr. and his wife Mabel Benson DuPriest of Racine, WI and Robert Edgerton DuPriest and his wife Barclay Farrar DuPriest of Ashland, Virginia; her grandchildren Rand MacLean DuPriest and his wife Melanie of Richmond and Travis Edgerton DuPriest and his wife Maria of Chicago, IL, and Benson Hunter DuPriest of Racine; her great-granddaughter, Sydney Abbitt DuPriest of Richmond; numerous nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews; appreciative students and loving friends.
A brief memorial service will be held for residents and local friends on Sunday, January 18 at 3 o'clock at the Petersburg Home for Ladies. A Graveside Rite will be held at the family plot in Crewe later this summer. Those who wish to make memorial donations may do so to the Fellowship Fund which Mildred help found of the Petersburg Home for Ladies or First Baptist Church of Petersburg.

|Alice Wilson||Stultz graves, Crewe Cemetery, Nottoway Co, VA|
You created several memorials for members of the William Davis Stultz family located in the Crewe Cemetery in Nottoway Co, Va. Those memorials note that no stones are present. Did the memorials come from hand-written cemetery records? If so, that may help to explain the difference in the names of the family members. Thanks for helping me solve this mystery!
|Wanda Stewart||RE: Lula S. Keller|
Just remove Lula as Andrew's spouse please.
|Wanda Stewart||Lula S. Keller|
Hi, my name is Wanda Stewart. Andrew Putnam Keller is my great-great-grandfather. The Lula S. Keller buried in the Crewe cemetery is not his wife. She is his maiden sister. She never married and helped to raise Andrew's children and his daughter's, Bertha Augusta Keller Cook, children as well. My grandmother was Bertha' s daughter, Colon Adele Cook.
I believe that Andrew was married twice. I have a marriage certificate for his son, Jacie, listing his mother as Loula; and his granddaughter also named Loula as his wife. I had a distant cousin who was a contemporary of Andrew who researched the family for over 60 years and she said his wife was called Hannah Renniger.
I cannot find confirmation of who was Bertha' s mother.
I have been hunting my ancestors for going on 40 years.
|DILLICANITY||Thanks so much!|
Ms. Georgia, I know that my Grand Aunt Gracie and my Grand William are smiling on us both.
Thank your for posts. Mrs. Gracie Smith Cozart was my GRAND AUNT. NC, Granville County
I would appreciate her memorial being transferred to me. My member number is 48149977.
Thanks--I'll check it out.
