NOTE: I'm winding down my presence on Find A Grave. I have transferred the memorials I created so that I won't be a roadblock to anyone else. END OF NOTE.|
I'm a life-long resident of North Carolina. My Find A Grave documentation is focused on the descendants of Charles Johnson of Strawberry Hill Plantation in Chowan County, N.C. near Edenton. He came to Edenton, Chowan County, N.C. from England in 1775. He was born with the surname "Johnston" or "Johnstone" in Scotland. In 1785, he married Elizabeth Earl of the Earl family of Bandon Plantation in Chowan County. They had one child who survived, Charles Earl Johnson of Bandon Plantation. Charles Earl Johnson's 1807 marriage to Ann Williams Taylor of Franklin County, N.C. produced children who married into the Henderson family of Granville and Rowan Counties, N.C.; the Skinner family of Perquimans County, N.C.; the Iredell family of Chowan County, N.C.; the Granbery family of Perquimans County, N.C; the Baker family of Gates County, N.C. and the Smith family of Halifax County, N.C. My Find A Grave entries focus on the descendants of these marriages.
My Find A Grave documentation also relates to the Wilhelm Huters family of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, the Maunsel White family of New Orleans, the Snipes family of Isle of Wight County, Virginia and the family of John Alden of the Mayflower.

Hi, Dan --- Herman Aubrey Gardner, Willie Wimbish Gardner, and Albert Lewis Gardner are all children of Fannie (Henderson) Gardner Gray Leslie Gulley.
Mary E. (Wynn) Gardner [her name is incorrect on the memorial, Wynn is her maiden name] was the wife of Albert Lewis Gardner.
|Melinda Henningfield||RE: Alexander Martin Henderson|
Thanks for the transfer.
I have also added Leslie and Gulley as Fannie (Henderson) Gardner Leslie Gulley's spouses. She had two other husbands. One does not have a headstone and the other doesn't seem to be in the cemetery I think he should be in.
Next...I need to document all the small biographies as you have so beautifully done! (My only excuse is...I did it a long time ago.)

Thank your for contacting me. Perhaps we are cousins. A. M. Henderson was my great-great grandfather through his second wife, Malinda Wimbish.
I appreciated your sourced information about Alexander.

There were other Johnston's in the same area:
Annie Johnston died 1950
Iredell Johnston died 1887
Marshall Johnston died 1910
Mary Johnston died 1934
Oliver Johnston died 1899
I took pictures of all those markers and put them on Find-a-Grave.

I am sorry to hear that you are leaving Find A Grave.
I am in the process of photographing cemeteries all around Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Hertiford, Pasquotank, Perquimans, etc counties and it would be my honor to maintain any memorials you would like to transfer to me so that I can add photos and any other information that I can find on the persons in your database.
If you would like to transfer any of them to me my Find A Grave ID is: 47223294
You can find my Chowan County Cemeteries here: http://chowan.lostsoulsgenealogy.com/cems/chowancemlist.htm
To find other counties just change the county name in this link: http://chowan.lostsoulsgenealogy.com/
I don't have some of the counties online as yet but I am working on gathering information so that I can get them online.
Thanks again and sorry to see you go!

Hi Dan, I have a rule that isn't on Find A Grave's list. If I don't see a marriage date on a tombstone I don't assume the two people are married. I've had a mother with her son, I've had a sister with a brother so I don't link them even if I figure they were married. Then if someone tells me they should be linked, I'll gladly do so. I don't know these folks so I stick to my rule. I hope that makes sense but it is safer for me. I linked Walter and Cora Huter per your wish.

Thanks for the family link information. Take a break but keep your finger in the pie. You never know when something will pop up for you. I have periods where I think I've hit a wall and are ready to quit but then something somes along to give me a spark again. Thanks for your help.
Marlene in Marble Hill, MO.
