Bio and Links
Bio Photo My family has been in Florida since 1855, and my husband and I live on the property that my great-grandfather, John Bland Hazel, bought in 1860.

I have always been interested in family and local area history. When my husband and I met in West View Cemetery, Palatka, Florida in 1985, we started what has evolved into our County's cemetery website. It has grown greatly over the years with lots of assistance from interested volunteers.

Thank you for your interest.

This is my great grandmother. May I have your permission to upload your photo of her headstone to my tree?

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

RE: Hazel Family
Thank you. Sounds like you are a busy lady and I would love to meet you. Unfortunately I am in AL disabled and not getting around verv well. I haven't been home to N. Augusta, SC since I buried my husband there 2 1/2 years ago. I don't know if I will ever get back before it is too late.
I have been doing this for over 12 years now but didn't have my computer on for about 1 1/2 years and just got it back about 2 months ago when my son moved home. God willing I will have it for a while because even though it is hard with my hands and arms, I am still trying. Just put out a family request to my family in Wyoming County, WV on facebook for help from them on obits. I am trying to get a lot of memorials created and cleaned up on "findagrave". Thanks again and God bless you for your work, it is very rewarding when it works.

RE: Jane and Thomas Hazel
I just saw your message tonight. Thanks, I will check it out. I don't really have anything on the Lott family that I remember, but I will look. Who I do know there in Graniteville Cemetery are My great-grandfather Lott Hazel buried beside his and Ida Pollard's daughter, sister of my Grandfather William Thomas Hazel at Westover in Augusta, GA. Lott's mother Vicy Jane Lott and father Thomas R. Hazel Sr. Thomas R. Hazel Jr. and his wife Minnie Dean Hazel Young who later married ( also there )Henry Grady Young. Their son Mansfield Dean Hazel and his wife Grace Bishop Hazel. Lott's sister Josephine Hazel Bolton, her husband Joe and 2 or 3 children. How close is Laura's plot to one of the family members? I'm having some health issues so I don't know when I will be able to get back home to look around again. Thanks again, Angela

mays cemetery
I have some old records that show burials in mays cemetery. I understand the cemetery has been destroyed. How can I add these burials to the cemetery? The burials were from 1869, 1870, 1885 & 1905. How can anybody just destroy a cemetery? How do I put a marker on a grave if the cemetery is not there?

RE: Thanks for CD
You are correct. My uncle Bill and Aunt Virginia moved from Scituate to Pocasset on the cape after my grandmother died. I remember that old Scituate house well.

RE: Thanks for CD
Okay, thanks! So although you're of my mothers generation ancestry wise, I am 4 years older than you. I was born 12-23-1948.
I noticed the date of death on Charles McCallum changed. Did you find new information?
Again, Thanks for the info and the web site. I didn't expect to find new relatives and I find it a little exciting. It's kind of the holy grail of genealogy.

RE: Thanks for CD
What was your mother's name so I can get the connection right in my family tree program?

Thanks for CD
Thank you for the CD, it has been helpful. I've just scanned thru it and haven't looked at it in detail but was delighted to find the invitation to my grandfather and grandmothers wedding. It looks as though our common ancestor is Eugene McCallum and you are of my mother's generation which would make us 3rd cousins once removed. Correct me if I'm wrong.

RE: Charles Eugene McCallum
I look forward to seeing it. I started creating my family tree several years ago with my mother using Family Tree Maker. When I found this web site I re-opened the project and started filling in the gaps. I have been filling the gaps in on the web site to the best of my knowledge from what I have. I have been unable to find my grandmothers grave. Her name was Helene Dusossoit McCallum and was born in Belgium and was buried in Mass. if not on Cape Cod, very near to it. I also haven't found my Aunt Helene McCallum Dunn. She died in NYC. I don't know where she was buried. I will post whatever pictures I have on the site when I find them.
Thanks a lot!

RE: Charles Eugene McCallum
Social Security death records confirm a Charles McCallum born Oct 3 1912 and died may 1981 in Newport news Va. No middle name given. Not sure where he really fits into the family, but I definitely visited him and his family in the summer of 1968 and he was related to my grandfather William Shaw McCallum Sr. and I thought it was his brother.
