I retired as an elementary school principal in 2000. As a person that sleeps only 4 hours a night that leaves 20 hours to fill. Sitting home is not an option. Now, I drive a school bus 5 hours a day and visit cemeteries every chance I get. I have never been to a cemetery that charged admission and seldom is there a crowd. My wife, Sandra, is of a like mind so it works well. We both enjoy the hunt and the thrill that comes with each discovery. Let us know if we can help. If you have additional information on one of my post or you are a relative and want ownership, I will gladly transfer it to you. Just ask. Oh! By the way just call me Doc!|
NOTE: Many times the family plot has names different from those on the headstone. I always attempt to provide a reference point for markers. Hope this is not confusing.
Two quotes worth remembering:
"Tread softly, dreams are buried here." Unknown
"If you wonder about your 'roots' you have two parents, four grandparents eight great-grandparents and 16 great-great-grandparents, and by the time you go back 10 generations 300 years or so- you had 1,024 people from whom you are directly descended. --Mady Castro

|Curtis Austin||RE: Emio Keller|
Hi! Who are Emio's parents? Have you figured that out yet? According to my records, Imo was born in July 1895 in NC. She married a guy named Charles Glenn Keller and had a daughter in 1925 that died the day she was born. Charles and their daughter Matildy are buried in Antioch but I haven't had any luck locating any death records for Imo. I just so happened to stumble upon your memorial for Emio. Since Imo (on one record) was spelled "Emma", I assumed that her name was either very rare or unique. It seemed rather odd to find another weird name (Emio) very close to Imo's name with the same last name as Imo's husband Charles buried in the same cemetery as both her husband and child.
Must be one of those odd coincidences. I would love to find out what info you have on Emio such as parents and such. My great grandfather Clark Thomas Austin and many other distant relatives are buried in Antioch. I am related to the William Austin who donated land to Antioch and helped found Antioch Church.
|Casey Caldwell Williams Rowland||RE: Bruce|
Thanks for the encouragement. Even tho my Bruce is not your Bruce, it is a fun coincidence!
|Casey Caldwell Williams Rowland||RE: John Caldwell|
John Andrew Caldwell is my 1st cousin 4x removed. His father (John Elliot Caldwell) was the brother of my 3rd great grandfather (Andrew Hamilton Caldwell). Are you related to the Caldwells?
|Rita Wehunt-Black||Thank You|
Thank you so much for the transfer of Mary Wehunt (Hull) at Bess Chapel, Lincoln County, North Carolina. I certainly appreciate it.
|Robert Ragan||RE: Requests|
I'm re-sending the requests in case they were originally misrouted.
I have sent several requests, most notably for memorials #51980431 (Carpenter) and #74261547 Brockman). As I have not yet heard back, I am wondering if you have received them.

HI...you've added the same picture 3 times to Memorial# 13345498..just thought you'd want to remove a couple of them
|Eleanor Morrison Lawson||Cudds, Lawsons, many NC & SC names|
Doc, thank you so much for your work with Find A Grave. In the 80's I started my research for my genealogy. At that time I was able and visited many cemeteries, NC and SC. Now because of age and health, I depend solely on Find A Grave. I no longer can visit the cemeteries. Thank you so much that you have given so much time to Find A Grave so that you can help ME among others. I hope you won't mind my making copies of your photos. I am trying very hard to get as much of my family as possible on Ancestry and Family Tree Maker for my descendants and others. I hope they will find their heritage thru this. God bless you in your helping others like me.

|Penny Alexander||Wise family|
My name is Penny Alexander. You have posted some headstone pictures of the Wise family in Lincoln County, North Carolina. They are ancestors of mine. Would you mind if I used your headstone pictures on my family tree on ancestry.com?
