RE: Sally Lawrence
I am in one of those jags right now also. Trying to match up folks with relatives. Gad! I use Familysearch. Pretty good information. Right now working a little on Mildred Pearl Fletcher Johnson. She had married Chester Gordon Johnson. I am trying to find him. They married in 1921. I like nags, Reminds me to come back and double check. Linda

I see that there is a dup. I believe I left it like that until someone caught it. I had the original photo of the mended headstone on my memorial. I made a copy of the memorial and put the mended headstone on the older one. The headstone does not look as nice as the one I did. But I guess that isn't here or there. Good catch. Still want me to remove mind? Linda

RE: John Poland
Still trying to figure out if he might be the parent of My John Poland--and given that the fairly was poor and there's not much in the way of records. I do know that Charles Poland, the second John Poland's son was born in the same block as the cemetery,so there's that.

I am having trouble reading the inscription that is connected with Elizabeth Winslow Corwin.
Is it possible to transcribe it for us to be able to read. Thanks
Margaret W.

RE: Catharine S. Unknown in Salem
I was there near dusk, so I'm glad someone went back and looked further. They are not relatives, but it is possible I have a Poland relative buried there, as he lived very close to the cemetery. It may well be that the John Poland there was the father of my John Poland, who was lost at sea in the 1830s.

RE: John Candler
David, I did some more checking on the John Bubier who is buried with John Candler Jr. It appears that this John Bubier is the infant son of John Bubier and John Jr.'s sister, Eliza Candler.

RE: John Candler
Hi, thanks for getting back to me. Are you on If you are, I listed the picture of John Candler Sr. and the very old handwritten card as provenance for the painting. It was done by a Dutch itinerant painter and was not signed. It is a portrait done when John Candler was older than the line drawing in the book "Old Marblehead Sea Captains.." The painting was found at an estate sale in Essex and has a small bit of damage....If you are not on, send a message to me at and I will send the images to you. The Green Street Cemetery in Marblehead does not have an office. I will go to City Hall and see what I can find out. By the way, the other person on the gravestone, John Bubier, was a brother-in-law to John Candler Jr. I think that's interesting. I was at the Marblehead library yesterday and found the same vital statistics on John Jr. that you have posted on Find A Grave. He did marry Susan Wheeler. Abigail Halin and John Sr. were his parents.
