I'd love to be able to read about ZM on his memorial page - any possibility of translating it into English? Also, do you have the location of his grave?

MARIA KURENKO
Howdy RC:
I've been following MARIA's Russian-born son, VADIM.
He is mentioned in a 1943 coded cable from a Russian spy in NYC to the KGB in Moscow. These top secret cables were finally decoded as the Venona Project in 2010. VADIM enlisted in the US Army in 1942 (naturalized 1943) and got out in 1946. I think he worked as a translator as he spoke several languages. I have been trying to figure out if he was a Russian agent or a "double-agent".
Where can I find out for sure?

It was just an accident of fate that I posted his grave on findagrave. He was recently buried. The permanent grave marker had not yet been erected. I do not know why I took the picture of his temporary grave marker. It was 100 percent chance. I had no idea that he was someone very special.

Your Beautiful Tribute To Your Dear Parents
My family and I visited the Richmond Cemetery on Nov 16th, 2013. It was in the hopes of trying to meet someone of Ukrainian or Russian descent and learn whether there might be a clue of whether I could find some relations to my dear parents who were also refugees from the former Soviet Union.

It was a memorable experience to say the least to view the memorials and try to piece this part of history near and dear to my heart and soul. I then found your beautiful tribute to your dear parents on the internet. Your parents were heroes as mine were also. My father led a caravan of many families out of the former Soviet Union making their way to Austria and then on to Venezuela and finally to the USA. Also saving many dear souls along their turbulent journey to freedom.

If you would like to communicate by email to maybe assemble more information about our common history, I would enjoy that.

With my best wishes and respect,
Serge

Sorry, unfortunately we haven't Leonid Vasian photo. My family are the relatives of his wife, Ekaterina Goudkoff. We only know where and when Leonid was born, when he emigrated to USA and some facts about his Hollywood professional achievments(from Internet).
