Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a professional photographer and genealogist (over 50 years), and long time historian of Coleman County, Texas (over 40 years). Over 20 years ago, I, along with my wife, Judia, and Vena Bob Gates, published all of the marked grave inscriptions in Coleman County, Texas in the 3 volume, "Coleman County Cemetery Inscriptions." I also have these records online at

Judia and I both continue to visit cemeteries, but I do all the computer work. Judia is an artist and does not relate to computers ... she is soooo lucky!

I have welcomed FindAGrave to help carry on what myself, my wife and others are doing to keep local history information available and not forgotten. I began in the middle of March 2011 adding burials that have not been added for Coleman County.

I look forward to hearing from anyone interested in the cemeteries and history of Coleman County. Ralph Terry, Coleman, Texas.

Thank you once again for the photo of this headstone. I appreciate the time and effort. I too contribute to while also documenting the cemetery in which a number of my relatives live in northern Michigan, but I am not a professional photographer, like you!
Best wishes,

RE: Robert and Roberta Henderson
Thanks Ralph. I knew you would have an answer. I appreciate any help you can give. I am trying to gather as much as family history as I can on the Morrisson family from Coleman. Our family is from Thurloe "Dempsy" Morrisson who married Orville Cook. All the sisters are gone now except Doris and she has Parkinson's and Dempsy's daughter also has Parkinson's with dementia. I know we should have started this a long time ago, but I am trying to get it all together now. If you come across anything regarding this family, I would love to hear about it.

Thanks again for all your help and your awesome volunteer attitude.

Hi Ralph-
I have recently taken over the memorial of my 5th great grandfather, John Griffith, and noticed a son listed by the name of Daniel. I, too, am a genealogist and my research, as well as those who have thoroughly researched Annie Byrd, have never mentioned a Daniel listed among their children.I don't know if you have ever heard of Lloyd Bailey or of his"Heritage of the Toe River Valley" series of books. There is an extensive article written about John "Jackie" Griffith by his contributor on p.223 in vol.VI. Another book that lists his children is "The Genealogy of the Griffith Family" which is out of print but may be on
I would love to see any proofs you have that Daniel is the son of this particular John Griffith.I would be happy to show you the articles I have as well.

Their Deaths
Brilliant detective work! I didn't realise that they used to take a death census each year.

Well, there appears to be some erroneous vital statistics there, but the manner of death is reported (of course). A very different age, all pretty much 'word of mouth'...

Thanks again, Ralph; profoundly grateful!!

The Spaths
Well, that's absolutely amazing that you have a connection to them; it's a great shame what happened to their father.

Do you possibly know of the circumstances by which Mattie and Julia Stella lost their lives? We'll certainly contact you if we ever need further assistance. Thanks again!
