Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am researching African American families. Dixon/Dixsons, Flacks and Barnetts in Person Co. and Buncombe Co., North Carolina; Twymans from Virginia to Versailles, Woodford Co. Kentucky; Browns in Versailles, Woodford, KY; Reeds, Turneys & Carters in Bourbon Co., KY and Taylors in Mercer and Jessamine County, KY. Also, Reeds in Harris Co. Texas that originated from Bourbon County, KY.

I add memorials in the hopes that someone might find a connection to their roots and memories of people from the past. It also gives people a chance to "visit" their loved ones final resting place; where in many cases, they could not do that physically due to distance, health issues, time constraints, etc. No disrespect is meant in the creation of any of these memorials.

Please keep in mind those of us who contribute to Find A Grave do so VOLUNTARILY. This is a hobby and done solely for the purpose of freely assisting people interested in doing research of their family history and/or genealogy.

If any family member of a deceased sees errors in information or want to transfer ownership of a Memorial that I have posted, please let me know and I will gladly do so.

You are welcome. The gentleman that works at the cemetery led me directly to her grave. May your work be always easy and remembered with honor.

Adaline Link
I recently discovered that someone set up a Mt Zion Cemetery in Richland, Rush County. I live near there. Richland consists of about 6 houses, and this cemetery does not exist. I did some research and think the following memorial you created should actually go in the link for Mt Zion Cemetery, RICHLAND CITY, Spencer County:
Adaline Link #57357450
I hope you will consider deleting this memorial and transferring it to the proper location. Thank you!

Hi, could you check the data on Vera Hollman's memorial? The information says she is buried at Eastview Cemetery but her memorial page is on Elliott Memorial Gardens. Thank you, Jennifer

On your memorial 57058365 entered prior to my memorial 94234432,I did not receive duplicate as on my memorial her middle name has info.In reviewing cemetery;Mount Union Baptist, today I discovered duplication. As this a family member of mine and your memorial has her in incorrect cemetery,I am asking if you would delete your memorial.I realize your memorial was entered first, but if you review my memorial you will see why I am making this request as she was a member of a large family and the cemetery which is her final resting place is where a large number of my family is resting.Thanking you in advance for your assistance. Please reply to me via my e-mail address.Again Thanks!

Find Me If You Can
RE: Joe Pelman
the dedication ceremony for the Joe Pelman headstone which is the first community project of this group....MONDAY, SEPT. 22 AT 6:00 PM the Locust Grove cemetery on Keene Road going out towards the bypass and Lowes....a HUGE thank you to the 83 members from Kentucky and 10 other states who sent their donations without even knowing how much we needed .... this is from the "You grew up in Jessamine County" facebook page..

Joe was one of those characters that everyone knew....he walked the streets of Nicholasville wearing a wool coat, a pith helmet or stocking cap and usually with a dog...Shep was his dog in later years...he never had a real job just performed various jobs for people around town,,,most of the time for free. He was a very small man, under 5 feet tall, but very strong...he pulled a wagon, usually full of junk, around town and it probably weighed 5 times his weight. He claimed that he was a Prince of Ethiopia which we found out when he died was not true. Joe died in 1976 when he sat down on the front bumper of a garbage truck and the driver didn't see him when he drove off. Joe's family did not have the money to buy him a proper headstone and instead just hand painted a piece of concrete which, over the years, has become just about unreadable. This group took on the project of purchasing him a respectable head stone some 38 years later....donations came in from 83 donors in our group from 11 different state and we will unveil and dedicate that stone on Monday, 9/22/14 at 6 pm at the Locust Grove Cemetery here in Nicholasville. There is much more to tell about Joe and that story will be told that night as we celebrate his life. We hope that you can attend!
