Thanks for a grandfather's grave picture from Arlington. We wrote them over the years about this grandfather and they said he was not there.
Thanks to your picture and FindAGrave, we were able to find him. There was a spelling error in his first name - from an S. to an L. - turning his name from Sadowsky to Ladowsky McFarland.
The military was consistent with his name through all the years until after he left the Old Soldier's Home in D.C. and buried in Arlington. You picture made it possible to see with out own eyes why they couldn't find grandpa. They had another error on his grave, saying he served in the Spanish American War, which he didn't. Oh, well. :)
Anyway, wanted to thank you for your efforts and talent.

Hi, JDC ~ You manage this memorial (#20517493). I was wondering if you have a transcription of the headstone - it is leaning towards the ground. From your headstone photo, it appears to be located in the general area of the burials for Benjamin Edmonds Carpenter (memorial #20517980) and Jane Amelia Wheeler Carpenter (memorial #20518056), who were husband and wife. I'm wondering if Benjamin (1847-1902) could be their son and am hoping that his headstone may state "son of ...".

Hi there,
I am trying to find any relatives of William's. He was my mother's father, but was shot and killed a week before she was born. My grandmother and her family were from Texas, so she stayed here to raise my mom, and as a result, lost contact with William's family. So, I am just on the hunt trying to track down any close relatives. We have one picture of my grandfather and only a few details from my grandmother. She was obviously so traumatized by the events that she wouldn't ever talk about him. I would love to be able to gather more information from someone. Thank you for any information you can give me.
