RE: mary elizabeth philhower
You're quite right, Wayne. I too sometimes fall prey to "the easy way out" where I should be checking my P's-&-Q's, & sources, more thoroughly.
I'll give Mr. Hospidor a couple more days to respond (which I kinda feel like he won't ... there's been no message activity in his account for almost 3 years), then I'll begin dismantling my "Elizabeth Swick Vliet Philhower" Memorial. It should by rights be yours.
If by chance, Mr. Hospidor is a "fallen graver", you might consider contacting Find A Grave, and get them to transfer his Memorial to you, then take from it what you need onto yours, and delete his (newer) one yourself. That's what I ended up doing with a fallen-graver's memorials, who didn't respond for a couple years about several of my ancestors' memorials.
I've just sent you a friendly little suggestion on Elizabeth's. I'm a middle-namer myself, so I've suggested this convention for Elizabeth's.
I'm glad you got your mother's Memorial into your care. (Dot? Mountain View?) I'd have been mad about that too. I've got Hunterdon Apgar blood myself (4g-grandmother Margaret Apgar Eick, Old Lebanon Reformed Church Cemetery), and was lucky that its creator "Mindy" was amenable to transfering her Memorial to me.
Good passing a few minutes with you, Wayne. Thanks for your good work here and with our other relatives in Hunterdon & Somerset counties up there.

Genealogy question
Hello:

This is a question about genealogy of the Apgar family. I appreciate that you do not know me, and that you are probably quite busy. I would appreciate, however, any thoughts you may have about the following information, when you have time to spend on the query.

My name is Dave Apgar. While I currently live in Tucson, AZ, I was born in Plainfield, NJ in 1945. My father was Allen Wood apgar and my mother was Dorothy Brennan Apgar. My father's mother was Julia Burke Apgar. You are listed as the source of a photo of a gravestone in Hillside Cemetery for Julia B. [Scofield] Apgar on the Find A Grave web site. I found this through Ancestry.com. The date of death matches the date of death of my paternal grandmother. However, some of the other information is new to me. For example, I am unaware of the name Scofield in her lineage. Also, the information on her husband, William F Apgar is a bit different than what I get from other sources. The link from Julia's page in Find A Grave goes to a site for William F Apgar. Here, his parents are listed as Isaac Fisher Apgar and Elizabeth Sutton Apgar. Information from the Apgar Family Association indicates that William's parents were Isaiah Smith Apgar and Salome Angeline Pease. In fact, my brother has a photostat of their marriage certificate.

My real question has to do with my grandmother's brother and his family. When my brother and I were children, we vacationed for a few years at Lake Mohawk, NJ. During a few summer seasons in the 1950s we were visited by two cousins, Muriel and Beverly, at that vacation home. At that time they were older than both me and my brother. This means that, if they are still living, they are probably in their late 70s. I understood that my paternal grandmother (Julia) had a brother named Harry Burke. I think that Muriel and Beverly were offspring of Harry Burke. They were probably granddaughters of Harry Burke. Unfortunately, all I can remember is that at the time (in the 1950s) they lived somewhere on Long Island. I can find nothing more about them. Perhaps that is partly because I'm really not sure what their last names were then, and especially now, if they married and are still living.

Any hints or thoughts you have about Muriel and Beverly (? Burke ?) and their lineage, would be very much appreciated.

Thanx,
Dave Apgar

I have a suspicion that this grave you added may belong to Ambrose Fitz-Randolph (1861-1934). I was wondering if you'd be able to take a photo request?

Cornelius Walter Tunison, Jr.
You have a photo of a grave for Cornelius Walter Tunison, Jr. which is incorrect. The marker is for his father, Cornelius Walter Tunison, Sr. and he is buried next to his wife Maria Walker Tunison who has a larger stone next to his.

Cornelius Jr., is buried next to his third wife, Elizabeth Whittaker Hearst Tunison.
