I am very interested in the Davis family that was in Bartow/Cass County, Georgia during the mid to late 1800s. My grandfather was an orphan and was raised in the United Methodist Children's Home/Decatur Orphans Home in Decatur, Ga. I'd love to know more about his family.

Please feel free to use any of my photos in your family trees.

Let me know if I've made a mistake and I will gladly correct it. I am not directly related to most of the people in my memorials so please feel free to ask for a transfer.

Decatur Orphan's Home
I just saw your note about the Decatur Orphan's Home and my Grandmother was also raised there. Back in 1990, I had a slow day at work & called them to see if they had a file on her. It was very sparse from 1903-1909, but they actually had the application for her admittance to the Home & the correspondence from the Methodist minister who arranged it. Tracking the leads from that got me hooked on genealogy.

BTW, I also have 2 Leftwiches (sons of Joel & Rebecca Warren) I work on from Newton & Rockdale Co. that married Mitchell women.

Regards,
Meredith

No, I'm sorry I do not. 1900 census says b. Apr 1868. She was living with children out west in WA state on 1940 census, but can't find her on a death certificate. I was just happy to track down the obit yesterday in Atlanta.

Thanks,
Meredith

parents of lemuel burns &jack burns
I am searching for the decendents of Lemuel & Jack Burns . Their father & mother were George & Drucilla Fessett Burns . They were born in middle Ga. around 1855 FOR Lemuel & 1858 for Jack Burns . I saw Lemuel Burns & wondered if it may have been their son, although I understand his father was killed in the civil war, his mother Drucilla remarried & lived in JASPER CO. GA. & raised Lemuel & Jack there. My email is ruthscurry@yahoo.com Info appreciated. Thank you

Re: Ethel Leftwich
Ethel Leftwich, b. 7/22/1877 d. 8/28/19185 is buried in City Greenwood Cemetery, not Community Greenwood (a common misunderstanding). She is buried in section C1. Could you please revise the cemetery?

Thanks.

Strickland
Karen,
I am interested to know if there are any other Strickland's buried at Cross Plains Baptist Church in Alpharetta, GA? You posted the photo of Marion A. Strickland # 47007367 tombstone. His sister Selma Leola Strickland Hyde # 106635518 is also buried there. I am searching for their parents James Reuben and Lucinda Fields Strickland and hope to find them in this church cemetery. Appreciate any info you can give me! Thank You
