I've always been interested in genealogy, but it wasn't until after my husband and I bought and restored an old Victorian home in Hackettstown, NJ that my interest in genealogy kicked into overdrive. I started researching the history of the home and it exploded into researching all the ancestral families of Hackettstown, which meant a lot of trips to the Union and Old Presbyterian cemeteries in town. As a result, I overcame my fear of cemeteries and found them to be a fascinating, serene place.

I was the President of the Hackettstown Historical Society and Museum, and their website features pictures of many of those headstones as well as information on these long-ago citizens.

And.... if anyone has a picture of a Hackettstonian ancestor they'd like to contribute to the Society's cause, they'd love to have a copy!!

Of course, I'm also researching mine and my husband's families. I can trace my roots to William Huffington in Virginia, and my husband likes to boast that he's a pilgrim, descended from Richard Warren of the Mayflower. Of course, the branches of his tree are far and wide, with direct decendancy from Deacon Samuel Chapin and other early Massachusetts/Maine families with names like Elwell, Eddy, Coburn, Tucker, Lane, Riggs and more.

After we relocated to Massachusetts, the origins of his ancestry. I was thrilled to find so much information on his lineage. And, with so the old cemeteries here, I couldn't wait to wander through them, take pictures, and learn more about the people and families who built these towns.

We're still trying to find the first of his Brock family here in America. The first relative we can find is John Brock (abt 1714-1780) of Gloucester, so any and all help is appreciated.

I'm happy to take pictures in local cemeteries, research those families and share any information I can find. Feel free to use my photos, but just be sure you link back to Find A Grave.

Old Town Cemetery, Sudbury
Hi. I've sent you four or five email requests to change the burial locations on some of the memorials you have in Old Town Cemetery in Sudbury, Massachusetts. There are four or five cemeteries in what appears to be the same cemetery. Old town is down the hill from where the memorials of yours are that I've looked at. Your memorials are in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Unless you want me to, I don't want to annoy you by sending email after email to ask that you correct the burial locations. I did send you a link to a master list of who is in which cemetery. Please let me know what is the best way that I can help you sort this out so that your memorials are in the correct cemetery.

RE: Thomas Stratton
Hi! No he is not related, but thank you for asking. Just came across the obit and thought it would be important info for his memorial. Have a great summer!

Kunz Markers - Rosedale Cemetery
Hi Donna,

Wanted to give you a heads up that I just added photos to four of your memorials (Madeline Kunz, Gustave Kunz, Gustave Kunz, Jr., and Joephine Kunz. They were all together in a large family plot.

RE: Thomas Stratton
Hi Donna,

He is not a relative. Just came across the obit while doing other research... just my way of paying back for help I've received from others during my genealogy research. Thank you for posting!

Antonio Casaleat Holy Sepulchre
I apologize for posting a photo of the wrong Casale to your request for a photo of Antonio's grave. I had posted, then removed a photo of the grave of Giovanni Casale who is buried at N-171. Your Casales are at N-179. Since I had posted the photo, your request was removed from the list, so you should reinstate it. I'll look for it next time I'm there. Again, sorry about that.

Have we been already in correspondence regarding the Brocks? I just sent an email to introduce myself when I noticed that we may have been.

Henry Taylor Barker
I can get to the Henry Taylor Barker grave (#98728025) by typing in the name Henry T Barker. I would like to be able to type in the names of the 2 sisters on the same headstone and also get to the same photo. Henry's dates are October 15, 1837 - November 5, 1853. One sister is Elizabeth Sophia Barker and her dates are May 6, 1834 - February 6, 1855. The other sister on the same headstone is Lucy Hinckley Barker Keyes and her dates are May 14, 1840 - June 4, 1859. Please link all of these children to their parents, Nathan and Elizabeth haven Barker, tombstone 98727048. Would you be able to make these changes? I am also going to write to the person who created the site with the same question. I'd be glad to make the changes if I get your permission and am able to do so! Thanks!
