I was already an avid genealogist, when I attended a family reunion in 1990. It was there I saw a photo over a century old of a distant relative, taken in the town I grew up in, in a state I had moved from ten years earlier.|
While I had lived there, I had no idea any relatives had ever been in that area. That was really a catalyst for me. I soon discovered that several ancestors and many relatives were buried within thirty miles of my home town.
I am currently looking for the grave of a GG-Grandmother, who died within ten miles of another town, in another state, where I had lived prior to school age.
In this highly mobile day and age, we move around a lot. As a modern society, it's very easy to lose a sense of our roots. Yet, they are all around us. We need only to acknowledge them, and honor them.

Deke: I have a picture of H.C. Bierwirth /Whiting ,Iowa / Do you want it and how can I get it to you?

I'll be going back to Evergreen in a few weeks to continue my project there. If you have a location/plot I can do yours sooner, but I'll get to it eventually. I'm proceeding counter clockwise from the SW corner and am about 25% completed. It may get finished this year, but I won't make any promises. Most of the stones need edging before I can take a photo.
'Twas truly my pleasure! -janice (photograver)

Thank you so much for publishing the obit of Hugh. The adopted daughter is from my family tree. She was Minnie Rosell Parker, biological parents George Washington Parker and Hester Ann Ross Parker. Hester died soon after Minnie's birth and G. W. "passed" his three daughters in the family to other people. He retained his two sons. If you have any questions, contact me at email@example.com.
