I am a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, the Jamestowne Society, Descendants of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence, the National Huguenot Society, and the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century. I just love researching family histories. I taught Jr. High English in the public schools for fourteen years. I was an Elementary Counselor and a librarian for fifteen years. |
I would love your contributions to the pages I've added. I especially want pictures of the people I have listed here. I am taking pictures of all the tombstones in my area in order to preserve family histories for future generations, especially those who wish to join DAR and other societies. I want to honor these people and truly wish for them to be "Gone but Not Forgotten." I want to create a page for each person with pictures and biographical information. My DAR webpage is at www.mssdar.org/noahcole.

Hello Linda, I am a descendant of Thys Barentsen Swaim Find A Grave Memorial# 123537715.....and have been working on this line for quite a few days.
I'm wondering where to find the information on his marriages, is there a document somewhere?
Your memorial for him states that he married
1st married Peterke Jans of Holland in 1642
2nd married Scytie Cornelise
I'm so curious as to where you found this information.
Thank you so much for all that you do.

Hi, I noticed that on Linzy's death certificate, it said he was buried at Roseberry. That is not correct, as you know, since you have taken the picture of his stone at Hutchason!! That is where Della is buried since she was a Schrader, just like her sisters, including my aunt Bessie. Just thought you might like to know!

Thank you Linda, for getting my dear little friend connected to her mom & dad. My granny used to pick her sometimes to go to church with us. She was a very sweet little girl, who died much too young.

I try and sponsor each of my many Great grandparents. Thank you for creating the memorial.
I too am a DAR member, and waiting for approval on Mayflower, Jamestown, and Colonial Dames.
I live near Jamestown, so if you every need anything in Hampton Rhodes please let me know.

Thank you for the additional information concerning Capt Benjamin Harrison and his son William H Harrison, relevant to DAR# for the patriot ancestor. I have added that info to the memorials to assist others who may be interested in pursuing DAR membership under this line.
|Ryan O||Old Cavaness Cemetery|
My spouse and I went on a great hut this Saturday to find Old Cavaness Cemetery. We went out to the Narrow Gap Bluff, and took some beautiful pictures and used binoculars to try and see a hint of a cemetery across the river. After about 30 minutes we were politely interrupted by the land owner letting us know that it was private property (oops!) and the gate had been accidentally left open. He did let us know that several people over the years have been out there looking for the cemetery, and that he grows hay in the field that we were looking at. He has never seen sign of any burials there since he purchased the land (which is now for sale). In the late spring when the ground is dryer, we will get a chance to walk down there and look around again. If you have any more information on this cemetery, I would love to know.
Thanks so much,

Thank you so much! After having been to the Merell cemetery before and now seeing it after the clean-up it looks awesome. I cannot thank you enough for all your hard work. I wish I could have helped with the clean up. Unfortunately there are many cemeteries in need of being cared for.

Awesome! Thank you for the update. I hope you took before and after photos. I am going to see if they have an updated list of burials now. I am hoping to unlock some family mysteries. Happy Belated Christmas!
