Union Whitely Burial ground
I'm happy that you moved the two memorials. In the photo you can see one of the half buried tombstones that I could not dig out. Perhaps you can do that sometimes as I doubt that I shall ever be in that area again. If you find other graves to add there, please let me know as I am quite interested. John Thrasher

RE: Union Whitely Burial Ground
Thanks for your note. I had quite a problem trying to find out why the cemetery (I named Burial Ground) was not on Anderson's list and could find no one in Sumpter Co. interested. I know that there are other tombstones that I missed. One was half buried and I could not dig it out. Do you have a photo of your kin's gravesite? The burial can be added to the cemetery easily. You can do it or I will be happy to if you send me the information. Next to the Burial Ground, south, is the site of my ancestor Richard Wyatt Oates. Look at it on find a grave under Oates family cemetery. In order to get that site recorded, I discovered the Whitely Union error. I am John Thrasher; and am in Florida.

Hello Michael,

My grandmother's name is Annie Rebecca Canty. She was born in or around 1870 in Pike County Alabama. The grave photo of Nelson Canty looks familiar. I am not certain but I do believe that he was her father. She also named one of her children Laymon. Please contact me at I would love to hear more of about your research of the Canty Family.

Great Job
Michael, thanks for your efforts and contributions toward documenting and managing 307 memorials, many of which are in the Canty family. Your uncle.

Greetings from Ohio
Hello Michael,
This week I discovered the "Find a Grave" website and noticed the fantastic work you have done for the Canty grave sites.
I live in Oberlin, OH (outside of Elyria, OH). Nelson Canty is my GGG Grandfather. My father is Marvin Oliver, son of Walter Oliver, son of Nora Canty, daughter of Sam Canty, son of Nelson.

Genealogy is a new hobby for me. I have joined forces with a cousin from Allen Canty's line. Her name is Che (Sharon) Robinson-Gonzalez. We are very interested in speaking with you. Please email me so I can give you my phone number. My email address is

RE: King Hester Canty
No problem, I'm sorry that there weren't headstones for the others. If you need more information about them, try calling the cemetery office, they were really helpful.
