Because of fires, floods and loss, I started photographing all the markers in Jackson Co Michigan in Nov 2006. We've discovered the 1927 DAR WPA cemetery transcription project didn't have anyone actually walk any of the county cemeteries. They obtained the information from cemetery records, church records and neighbors. Fortunately for all of us this included records of those graves with no markers. Most of the early cemetery records have perished along with some of the cemeteries. Hopefully, we will be able to provide info for descendants of the early/current residents of Jackson County Michigan. By using census, marriage, death and local history information we try to make our entries as complete as possible. Email with info on your ancestors and we'll add them to any of our records. We'll be happy to help you in your search. |
Currently, I'm working on adding maiden names to as many memorials as possible.
As of 22 Aug 2009 Jackson Co FAG volunteers have 66,501 burials recorded, by Jan 2010 72,323 burials and by Jan 2013 101,483 burials. Many of the cemeteries have been completed with pics.
Please request edits, corrections & transfers thru the SAC tab (edit tab on the memorial page) and not here on the home page. Remember to check the new "edit" tab on your own homepage to see the corrections/additions sent to you.
Thanks to all those FAGer's who have trusted me to take care of their memorials and have transferred their memorials over to me while they take a leave from findagrave.

Thanks so much for the updates to Minor Smith Alden's memorial.
|Jeannieology||Llewellyn Shoemaker 112034503|
I believe Llewellyn is the son of Nellie Olds Tuttle Shoemaker. He and his brother Leland were twins who only survived until the age of 3. Next time you are in Munith Cemetery can you check and see if both boys might be buried in the same grave? The both were born in 1907 and passed in 1910. I will request a photo as well. Thanks for all you do to document the history of our ancestors!

Thank you for working so diligently which greatly helps those of us trying to find out what happened to our ancestors. I just have a question on a couple of the memorials you created or contributed to, so that I can make notes of how dates were discovered. I'm pretty sure Daniel and Mary Carpenter that lived in Jackson County are the parents of my ancestor, Clarissa Carpenter. Mary Carpenter is buried in Jackson County in Richards Cemetery (contributed by you). Middle name of Clark is in italics so I'm assuming that is her maiden name. Could you tell me if it was on the tombstone or discovered through burial records? Also there is a link to her husband, Daniel Carpenter to a cemetery in North Liberty, Indiana. Could you tell me how you knew for sure these two were man and wife? Was it on the WPA transcription records or other records? You also have parents listed for Daniel, which is wonderful, but how did you figure that out? Sorry for all the questions. Any clarification you can give me is deeply appreciated:) Nancy Barclay, great, great, great granddaughter of Daniel Carpenter.

Back in Jan 2014, you fulfilled a request for me that I'm just finding. Thanks so much for all you did. You linked family which led me to family I didn't know existed! Your efforts are appreciated.

Just want to thank you for adding the Sutfin Memorials to the Sutfin Cemetery. These Sutfins are
my GGG Aunts and Uncles and their descendants.
Hi: Thank you for you suggestion. I do have that information. I am working with the Farmington Library system on updating all of Oakwood Cemetery. We are doing it alphabetically. I should get to the T's in a week or two...
