I'm a middle school English teacher that spends "spare" time conducting genealogical research. I have spent lots of time in the Forest Hill and Laurel Hill cemeteries, but recently focused most of my efforts at St. Bernard's and St. Joseph's.

Please feel free to use photos that I take for whatever purpose you choose. However, any and all photos must include proper source information in the citation. This allows other researchers to maintain the integrity of the research process.

I often have additional and/or higher quality images, and sometimes additional information, for many of the memorials. Please contact me if interested.

Please note that although I strive to take the best possible quality photos, I occasionally upload pictures that I plan to replace in the future.

I generally create memorials with the same spelling used on the marker, when one exists. Additional information, such as names of parents, also utilize information/spelling as seen on the primary sources.

Several gravestones at Laurel Hill no longer stand where they were first erected. Several factors, including erosion and vandalism, have led to these stones being placed in seemingly random locations. I try to document both where these stones are now, and where they should be.

Frances Mccue Cross 146484149
Hi Bill,

I got the parental links edit for Frances Cross at St. Bernards but the mother (Margaret Mahoney McCue) that you suggested seems off.

I have her mother's name as Mary Mahoney. I found a Mary Mahoney marrying Daniel McCue in 1869 in Lee, Mass. And the census records for Frances in 1900 and 1910 have her mother's name as Mary. I looked up Daniel McCue's death record in 1905 and of course it doesn't give his wife's name. But also your Margaret McCue 148512067 that you have as Frances' mother has an issue with the spouses you have listed. You have her linked to Daniel McCue b. 1848 and then Wintrhop MacCraken b. 1910.

Just double check for me on the parents, especially the mother, and I'll process the edit.

Also I noticed your name a lot on the Fitchburg memorials. Are you doing all of the cemeteries? If I am adding memorials to a specific cemetery that you are truly focused on (perhaps St. Bernard.) I would be willing to transfer my memorials to you. I quite enjoy adding the memorials but I do not live in the Fitchburg area and will not be photographing.

I'm getting the itch to get back out in Gardner to photograph. I have two more sections in Crystal Lake Cem. to finish up.

Let me know,

Ryan-O

St. Bernard's Cemetery
Thank you for all of your hard work with this cemetery. In working with my genealogy, I have learned that I have a connection to what seems to be just about everyone buried there. My family was even the cemetery caretaker's for several years in the 30s & 40s. Keep up the hard work. Thanks Again.

Horace Knapp (1800-1848)
Hi Bill,

Horace's name was on the list for Gardner's Old Burial Ground and in Gardner's records from c1850. Since he died in 1848 it makes sense that he is buried there along with two of his children. Plus, there is still a stone there for Horace and one of the children. Very likely Horace's name was put on the stone in Fitchburg to show that he was the husband of Martha who was probably actually buried in Fitchburg (42+ years later). I would think that if Horace was reinterred in Fitchburg the stone would be gone from Gardner. I think having two memorials is OK in this case as there are two stones. Maybe if you just had a note which directed people to the other memorial that would be good.
