I started looking for my family after stumbling on this site. I was so EXCITED to find MY GGGGG Grands, and the cemeteries have done a great job of preservation. I love photography and wandering through old cemeteries, some of the monuments are awe inspiring. I was also struck and saddened by the crumbling faded stones, especially the ones I remembered playing among during my childhood. It is so sad that someone will look for a relative and not be able to see the stone any longer. Therefor I feel that we all have an obligation to photograph and try to save these memories. |
How do I get a relative's memorial transferred to me?
Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations.
Explain your relationship in the request! Any non-direct relatives (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc) are not required to be transferred.
Please note that it is not appropriate to request a transfer and then, after receiving the transfer, delete that page and substitute it with a new memorial that you have created.
Get out and photograph memorials while they are still readable. This site is primarily for GRAVE photos not genealogy, preserve those memories that are quickly fading.

I did not see your Find A Grave Memorial until after I made a headstone photo request on Find A Grave after visiting Memorial # 157243254 by Memory Maker. Thanks for posting the photo on your Memorial # 107166406. I did not know how to take my request back after finding yours. fkhargett

Greetings. I am doing some research on my wife's family. William Beaty Starnes is her great grandfather, Minter Bobo Starnes her grandfather, Virginia Starnes her mother. I wonder if you have any information to share relating to William, Mary Bagwell, Mary Puckett, or Mary's father John Puckett. Thanks. firstname.lastname@example.org

Ms. Kelly's interment entry has been placed in the wrong cemetary. This is a private cemetary for Johns family members. There are only 5 graves here so far We do not know Ms. Louise Kelly.
Good luck in your search for the correct place.

He is my 4th cousin 2x removed. May I use his gravestone photo in my Family Tree? I will gladly give you credit. Thank you so much, Terry

Cathy, I want to thank you so much for your work with Find A Grave. You are doing so much for others. I have been on my journey with genealogy since the 80's and at that time I could visit cemeteries. Today because of age and health, I am unable to do so, but because of people like you I can still visit them on Find A Grave. I hope you will not mind my making copies of your photos. I am fighting so hard, trying to leave as much family connections as I can on Ancestry and Family Tree Maker for my descendants and others so they can know their heritage.
God bless you for all you do for others.
Eleanor Morrison Lawson
