Born in Germany in the 60's and growing up in Berlin and Munich, I started my own genealogy in the 70's, then did my High School and College thing in the 80's, and came to the US in the 90's. Now I am taking pictures for fun and business. Some of the photos I post are digitally enhanced, so the lettering on older grave markers is easier to read.
The information on FINDAGRAVE is provided by thousands of volunteers. Please let's not forget we are all volunteers. I take exception with those volunteers who say their photos are copyrighted. Why take photos if you're not going to share them with everyone? My photos are free to anyone who wants to copy them for non-profit purposes, no need to ask. A credit to FINDAGRAVE would be nice.
If you find errors on any of my submitted items, please be so kind and let me know so I can correct those. It's important for all of us hobby-family-researchers and historians to remain accurate in the data we publish.
If you would like a memorial transferred to you (per F.A.G. guidelines), please use the EDIT tab on the specific memorial and send me a SAC ("suggest a correction"), it provides me with your note AND a link to the memorial you are referring to. Don't forget your member number. Please don't expect me to research it.
I NEED YOUR HELP: Check out the virtual cemetery on the right. Maybe you can help finding these folks' final resting places.
When researching European names, pay specific attention to the spelling, especially when uncommon letters are involved. In German there are those "Umlaute": Ä, Ö, Ü, ä, ö, ü.
Do not assume that Schäfer and Schaefer are the same.
As of August 2012 the FINDAGRAVE website has issues when searching for these names that include diacritical marks. The only way to find them is as follows. Go to www.google.com and place the following into their search box: site:.findagrave.com Schäfer. Exchange the name Schäfer with whatever name you are searching for.
Search for European Nobility with and without prefix, e.g. Friedrich von Bayern or Friedrich Bayern. Frederick of Bavaria or Frederick Bavaria.
For Dutch names with the "van" search with and without space: "VanAusten" and "Van Austen". And note that German nobility's prefix is not only the "von", there are zu, vom, auf, auf der, in der, zur, von der, von dem, von und zu, an der, and others.
I welcome every message left for me, but will delete them after I read and acted upon them. I like my member page "clutter-free", I am German after all. Giggle.
