Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been researching my own family and volunteering for the Logan County Genealogical and Historical Society now for the past few years. I love wandering through cemeteries and will be willing to take photos of headstones in my town (or within 20 mi. or so) to help other researchers.

PLEASE ASK ME IF YOU WOULD LIKE ME TO TRANSFER A FRIEND OR RELATIVE. I ALMOST NEVER HAVE ANY PROBLEM DOING THIS!

The following poem, which I wrote, has gotten a lot of attention lately from those wishing to share it with others. Please know that I would be honored if you did. You can use my name as author if you like.

THE CEMETERY PHOTOGRAPHER

Wandering among the stones I see
The stones so weathered and worn
‘Tis difficult to find the date
On which the babe was born

I stare at the stone and am struck with awe
At the life that I knew was gone
This was someone's child, a babe so sweet
With loved ones to carry on

So I take a photo for all to see
For the family that remains
An everlasting memory of
A child of God's domain

I brush the weeds back from the stone
And say a silent prayer
For the babes that had no chance to live
And for mothers everywhere

The dove calls out it's mourning song
Among the stones so still
Echoes of the woes, through time
The choirs of despair

The stone will someday perish
The flowers will be gone
But a photo now remains of this
Their memory lives on!

And so my friend, don't hesitate
To film the weathered stone
Those who live within your hearts
Are never truly gone

William McBride Find A Grave Memorial# 20020639
I have put in an edit for William McBride, removing him from (Mary) Elizabeth (Sexton) McBride.

The memorial may have been made in error as the spouse of Elizabeth is buried in Arthur Cemetery, Green County, Indiana, and died many years earlier. His information is Find A Grave Memorial# 11532859

I find the family in Indiana in the 1860's, and then I have a marriage record for Elizabeth's grandson in Cabool, Missouri in the 1890's, so I do believe the family was in Texas County. Elizabeth's son Lemuel and son grandson George were found in Kansas by 1895, so Elizabeth must have lived with another child in Texas County. It wasn't son William or son Willis Craven McBride.

Best Regards,
Dixie Armstrong

RE: Jeri Marcel
Hello, yes, she is very much alive. And, she is the daughter of ?Nick and Myrtle Kidd McKinney. I am related through the Kidd side. Just a bit of FYI, two neighbor sisters I grew up with, we found recently their mother was from the Kidd/McKinneys and my dads mother is a Kidd, we are distant cousins! That is because of Myrtle and Nick marrying. A small, small, world!

There are two memorials for this person and two different cemeteries?

She is very much alive and well. There may be two, but doubt it in Tyrone, MO. You have the correct parents and siblings on the memorial but not the correct dates of birth and death dates.

Please check your information and remove this Jeri Marcel.

RE: finding more Millers
Hi Jan, thanks for responding! My apologies for not getting back very quickly, my uncle passed away and you know all that entails.
So now that I have time to regroup and start again, I think my question was about Jonathon Miller born Aug 8 1814 TN -Jan 2 1869 Illinois. I think Dilingham Shed cemetery in IL
The Miller's in my family are from Southern IL.
Just trying to see what line to follow, seems to be a few and it's confusing. This Jonathon had Charles W Miller and he had George H Miller.
Not really sure what my question is. I've been following Ancestry.com and hoped to find confirmation that this information was correct I guess. Any advice on how to go forward would be appreciated.
Thank you
Tanya

finding more Millers
Hi my name is Tanya and I'm just getting started in the genealogy of my family.
Was wondering if this Jonathan Miller married to Elizabeth had Charles Miller as a son? He's my great-great grandfather.
I'm also looking for the trees for Jonathan and Elizabeth so maybe/hopefully you can point me in a direction?
Thankful for any help!

RE: Burnett Cemetery
Hi Jan,

I do remember seeing that Burnett Cemetery txt file. Unfortunately, my 1919 date for Sarah Mason was from The County Health Office, not a death certificate, and I've seen some dates transcribed from there that weren't accurate either. So, 1915 or 1919. Like you said, it would be nice to see if there is a stone there. I'm not local, but I just went through there a couple weeks ago. Too bad. I just started going through all these after I got home.

Josephine Hoblit Shores
Jan, I saw your name on Josephine's Memorial Page.
Are you related to the Hoblit family??

My grandfather's half sister Cynthia Vance lived with Mary & Green Hoblit in Franklin County Illinois for a while according to the 1880 franklin County Ill. census. When Dr. Hoblit died I believe Mary must have moved to Logan County Ill. where she is buried. I believe Cynthia must have moved with Mary. Cynthia lived in that part of Ill. She lived with a woman & some of her daughters with the last name of Rowley in Bloomington Ill.

I know Dr. Hoblit lived in Franklin County Ill & is buried in the ODD Fellows & Masonic cemetery there in Benton Ill. I set him up a Memorial Page on Find A Grave & Susan attached a picture of his headstone to it. I am in the process of attaching Dr. Hoblit's name to his wife's Memorial Page.

I am looking for any additional info you have on Dr. Hoblit & a picture of him if there is one available.

That was so nice for Dr. Green & Mrs. Green to
take in a little girl of 12 years old & care for her until she reached the age where she could care for herself.

Cynthia eventually married & moved to Mo. & raised a family & is buried there.

If you have or know how I can get a picture of Dr. & Mary Green & any other information I would really love to have it.

Thank you for your help. My email address is afh1942@gmail.com Thanks again Alice Hurst

RE: Phamy Anderson
Thank you so much Jan!! If you have no connection or objection to transferring the remaining Andersons to me I would be happy to have them! Most likely relatives of mine one way or the other. Same is true for any Allisons, Tomlins, Jacobs that you might have. I'll certainly pass them on to any closer relatives who discover this site.
Thanks again!
