Bio and Links
Bio Photo Born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. Am 59 years old, Married, wife and 32 year-old step-daughter(somewhere in Tenn. or Ala. don't really know). I found out through ancestor searching that my maternal grandfather's family are one of the first Pioneer families to settle northern Polk county, back in the 1830's. The name they had when migrating from Indiana was Howard. Then my grt-grt-Aunt married in IN before coming to Iowa first, to get the land ready for the rest of the family members. Her married name was Saylor. They founded what is now Saylorville. Back then it was known as Saylor's Grove. Later female marriages have included the names of Wheeler, West, Gray, McQuiston, Cree, Cockerham, Atkinson, Figenbaum, Lane, Davis, Lewis, and the list goes on. Most of these immediate families were in the area in the mid to late 1800's.
Feel free to contact me by email if I can help you.

Hi James -

The inscription reads 58 years, 3 months, 15 days. I will re-visit the cemetery and see if I can get a better photo. It is a tough read, but I have a copy of a survey done of the cemetery by the PA Dept. of Conservation & Natural Resources prepared in 1999 which shows the inscription info on all of the stones. It was obviously much more readable 16 years ago. I will send you a copy of the page pertaining to John Howard by direct email.

Thank you for sending the info so that I could upload the photos. If you need any other photos in this area, let me know. I will be returning back home to Iowa after a week in Mississippi.

Please post Georges' grave photo to his wife, Dorothy's memorial page. I received a request to do so, but you already have the photo, so it would be easier if you post it. Thanks.

What I need from you is the following: Cemetery's name, George ??? please include surnames. I don't know any of these people personally. In other words, throw me a bone lol. Give birth or death dates as well.

I have been to many cemeteries and I have to know these things so that I can search for it.

Thank you so much for taking the photo of Eugene's tombstone that I requested, and also going the extra step of taking the photos of his parents Jesse and Ruth. It is very valuable information and is much appreciated.
