William Henry Shaug
Hello Roxanne,
My name is Michael Shaug and I am writing to you to give you some information on the grave you have listed in Farmington Iowa Cemetery for W. H. Shawk... this grave is of my 4 great grandfathers Dr. William Henry Shaug. His mother was Elizabeth Stoy, daughter of Dr. William H.Stoy of Lancaster, PA, and he was born in PA in 1792. William Henry was a veteran of the War of 1812 and held the rank of Ensign. He married Hannah Sherwood, a descendant of William Bradford of the Mayflower/Plymouth Colony, in 1818 in Perry County, Ohio, and he was the father of 16 children (that survived infancy), including DR. Charles Washington Shaug (my 3 great grandfathers), William Bradford Shaug, and Dr. Bennett S. Shaug, a Mexican War and Civil War veteran who is buried in Eldon Cemetery, Iowa. His wife, Hannah Sherwood Shaug died in 1878 in Livermore, CA. I hope this information will be helpful in updating the information for his grave, please feel free to contact me if you would like more information on him. Thank you!
Best Regards,
Mike Shaug 5-22-16

I am not sure why you added another photo to

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=15698665

when there was already a good one there (earlier). Thoughts?

Thanks for your work.

William Drake # 154401219
Hi Roxanne,
Do not drive back there 75 miles, my dear. I thought you were close, but I would not ask that of you! It's really not that important. Mrs. Drake had remarried after William's death to my 3rd Grt- grandfather, Henry S, Wheatley - his 3rd marriage. He was 77 and she was 49. I was researching the Drakes to find any little clue I could find regarding Henry. Henry is buried in Ottumwa, Wapello Co., Iowa. I don't have a death date for him either. Kate was last living in Kansas in 1920 with her daughter, Myrtle Buckles, and family. So, looks like Myrtle took her mother back home to be buried near Myrtle's dad, but no death date is odd.
Thank you for much for the reply!
Best, Connie McKinley

William Drake # 154401219
Hi Roxanne,
I'm looking at William Drake's gravestone, which you photographed - thank you!. However, due to the leaves growing over the stone, I am unable to read all the writing. Do you have that written down somewhere? He's buried in Bethlehem Cemetery, Davis County, Iowa.

I'm also reviewing Kate Drake Walters # 154400556 headstone - she is buried with Drake family in Bethlehem Cemetery as well. You also took a photo of that stone, which is great. Looks like the art work above her name has faded away with time and I can see "Drake" written on the top of the stone, but what does it say at the very bottom or the stone?
Thank you so much!

Wendell Liitschwager
Looking for information on Wendell's older brother, Albia, born 1909 in Buckeye, Hardin, Iowa. He married 1st Neva Burns and had a son. Then it appears he married one of my relatives, Daisy Ellen Tate, because she died with that last name and is listed in a city directory in California with her in 1949.

If you have any further information, please email me at deniseann@onlyarethusa.com. I would greatly appreciate it.

Sherman Green
Hi, Thank you-Thank you for this information on Sherman Green who was my great grandfather. I had looked years ago and could find nothing until now. Sherman Green had a daughter, Mae Fanny Green, born on August 8th, 1896 and she was my father's mother. I found a copy of her birth certificate and found that my great grandfather Green who I remember had the first name of Sherman. She married my grandfather Harry Severson. I have a few photo's of him, Sherman, in later years that I would be glad to share. I joined this site today because of this information and to be able to contact you. I would love to have a copy of Sherman & Elizabeth's wedding photo-how do I go about that? Again, thank you again for all the work you did. Barb Anson
