I have been into Genealogy about 9 years. Came across this site in one of my searches and a volunteer sent me a requested picture. I so appreciated it that I decided to volunteer also. I live in Kingsburg CA,(setteled by Swedes), that is the reason for the Dala Horse.|

I am answering your direct question about the grave of Alice which you posed to me:
Are you sure that Alice Iva Hedrick Eblen is buried at the Fowler Cemetery, in Fowler, CA? I went to the cemetery and spoke with the person in charge. He was unable to locate any listing for her [Gennut]
My response states that my information is based upon what her daughter Geraldine Mason told me over the phone during a long distance call before her death. For sure Alice is buried in Fowler, and apparently I have the wrong cemetery. Alice's grand-daughter does not answer queries of any kind, so there is no way I can locate the correct cemetery.

That is what I had understood from comments made by her daughter on the telephone a few months before she got sick and passed away. But given the strain on her memory at that point, I could understand if there was a miscommunication on some detail or other. She used to visit graves at Fowler, and at Selma as well, in Fresno County. Her mother lived in Selma, California. Until I am able to locate where she actually is buried, I will prefer to leave the mistake, since I am certain that she is actually buried, and not cremated. One of her descendants will let me know if they find the mistake, since they are cousins.

Thank you so very much for adding the links and also for the transfer. I really appreciatae it and your super-fast response.

I would be happy to go look for her. I'm not a descendant of the Gaw or the Fisk line. Just a guy that likes to spend time in cemeteries and on the find-a-grave site. If I can be of any further help in this area just let me know.
By the way the are people in this area that spell Fisk-Fiske. I ran across some of my kin that spelled Rich--Riche,Reach and a lot of other ways.

I found he was in the wrong cem. and someone just listed him recently in the Blue Springs aka New Lebanon Cem. I'm sure if you transferred him to the correct cem they would probably delete their acct and upload the pic to your acct, per Find A Grave rules. So glad this request was able to be filled after so many years (2009). Their acct is

Thank you so much for the information. What a facinating family story. Love it when there is more than one source particularly in the retelling of a story passed down from generation to generation.
I am a volunteer researcher currently doing research for a guy who I believe to be a 3rd Gr Grandson of Moses and Nancy Schultz Fisk on his Mom's side. I was originally asked to research his paternal side and picking up maternal family info along the way. I don't know as yet if he knows a much about his maternal family history or not. I'll ask him about that and see if he's ever heard the Moses/Nancy story.
I'd be glad to share any new Nancy Schultz info I may find with you. I suspect that you and the guy I'm doing the research for are likely cousins so I'd appreciate it if you would contact me at GStarbird@AOL.com so we can discuss that possibility and share further information.

I am doing family tree research for a guy who is a 3rd Gr Grandson of Moses & Nancy Shultz Fisk. I see this note on Nancy's FindaGrave memorial:
"Nancy was the wife of Moses. She was much younger than he. She was half Cherokee and Moses saw to it that she was educated prior to courting her. These are my gggrandparents."
I've yet to find parents for Nancy and I'm wondering what your source(s) for the above is? Maybe family stories passed down from generation?
Also would appreciate it if you could direct me to where I could find more information about Nancy's ancestors.
Thank you for your time.

Thank you for the reply! I was trying to figure out how to get hold of Ann Guthrie, but succeeded, so don't need anything now. I hope your recovery goes well! Thanks again, Teresa
|Teresa Catlin||Catlins in Kingsburg, CA|
I just began a search for some info on the Catlin side of the family, and lo and behold I find a message about headstones in the Kingsburg cemetary for my great, great grandparents, my great grandfather R. A. Catlin, his siblings, and my little brother, Kevin Paul Arnold. My grandfather was Bruce Whitlow Catlin, and his ashes are buried up at the family place in Auberry. I think the same is true of his sister Barbara Catlin. My cousin who also lives up there has a wonderful picture of one of the Guthries on her wedding day, I believe. I'm not sure most of us know much at all about our geneology, but I would love to get involved if anyone is looking for old pictures, information, etc.

Okay, I haven't been taking the photo requests, just letting someone else do them and concentrating on taking photos row by row and then posting them. But, there is no justifiable reason why I couldn't take the photo requests.
