Bio Photo I'm a family history enthusiast (or as my family says "addict"). My knowledge may be limited, but I love share what I know. In my experience, to best way to get over the proverbial brick wall is to enlist the help of others . I hope I can help a few others bulldoze their brick walls through this amazing website.
Also, I feel having a photo of a loved one's grave help with create/maintain a connection.

This year (2010) for Christmas, all the members in my family did something of service in honor of my father. Becoming a photo volunteer is my gift of service.

If I create a memorial for your loved one, and you would like ownership transfered, just let me know.

One last thing. I noticed it's difficult to read my email address correctly. It's

RE: Parker Family/Pioneer Cemetery
Hello, Brianna. Almost a year ago you looked in Pioneer Graveyard in Union Gap to try to locate and photograph headstones for the Parker Family. You were so thorough and helpful and looked at every legible headstone, but couldn't find any trace. You also did some searching in the records of Tahoma Cemetery. For all this we are very grateful and I wanted to let you know the good ending of this story. I found two relatives, one age 92 and one 101 whose minds are still very good and they knew the history of what happened. In 1939, the Daughters of the Pioneers did a well-meaning restoration of the Pioneer Graveyard. The letters on many of the the soft cement headstones in the cemetery were worn down and illegible. They tried to re-incise the names as best they could guess to make them more clear. In the process they changed the P in Parker to a B, which gave our little Effa and Aron a new last name "Barker." And the stones have said Barker ever since, which is why you could not find any Parkers. The City of Union Gap is doing a new renovation and interpretive displays for the cemetery to be finished in 2015, the 125th anniversary of the establishment of the Pioneer Graveyard. They are allowing us to replace the old stones with a new one with correct names and dates for these little Parker tots whose names were changed to "Barker." So I thought you might be interested in this "happy ending" story. In a conversation we had about all the historical, genealogical and family mixups the name change had created, I told the City Manager, Rod Otterness, how Find A Grave has local volunteer photographers who take headstone and cemetery photos for relatives living in distant locations.. He was very interested because they will have some "before" and "after" renovations of some of the nicest headstones and also they are planning some events. One idea has a maternal/child health theme around why there are so many infants, small children and young mothers buried in these old cemeteries. If you would be interested in discussing photography for the project, you could email him at He knows me by my married name instead of the name I use publicly for Find A Grave, so you can just mention Julie and he will know who you mean. Again, thank you for trying so hard to find our family headstones. It led me to seek more deeply (because we knew there were family children buried there) and to finally solve the mystery.

RE: Edit tab
That is very kind of you, however I am not one that has to have all memorials I connect too, so I hope we can find close connected family to transfer to. Thank you for updating. I live in Tacoma, are you near?
You can use my personal email to answer that if you want, just wondering because of all the memorials you have.

Thank you so much for all your efforts. You do a great job. I will pursue some of these suggestions--perhaps make a trip over myself to search archives :) Julie

Good evening.
Thank you for taking the 2 pictures. Whoever arranged their burials did not spend much money on the headstones. Cecil was my 1st cousin twice removed. I do not know if he had any children
Thanks again.
