My interest of documenting cemeteries began with a request to help on an Eagle Scout project in 2001.
Since I love creating and working with databases, digital photography and genealogy, what better combination! I've documented many Howard Co. Indiana and Montclam Co. Michigan cemeteries with thousands of tombstone photos. My largest contributions are Arlington National Cemetery and Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis.
I love Find A Grave and I especially enjoy adding photos to memorials so that family members can visit their family member's grave at anytime. However, I ask that you respect my efforts. Please, do NOT copy my photos to ancestry.com without giving me credit. Simply indicate "© 2001-2013 John C Anderson on Find A Grave". I'd appreciate a note letting me know you have copied them. However, do NOT post them to other Find A Grave memorials. Just let me know and I will upload them. Use for commercial purposes is not allowed under any circumstances. However, it is okay with me for you to post my photos of your friends and families headstones on Facebook as long as you link it back to the Find A Grave memorial. You may use my photos on your own personal website if non-commercial, but photo credit is again appreciated.
This love of documenting cemeteries has led to the formation of Instone Data Solutions, a company used by government agencies and others to digitize their old paper records.
I'm more than happy to make corrections and add relationship links to other memorials.
ALL REQUESTS FOR corrections, additional information, or transfers: PLEASE do so with the Suggest A Correction (SAC) link on the memorial for that person. [Most memorials will have an 'Edit' tab on the upper right side of the memorial. Click on the 'Edit' tab, then click on the 'Suggest a correction' link on the Edit page.]
PLEASE NOTE: I'm very grateful for corrections and additional information, but I'm receiving 75-100 a day and cannot reply to everyone. Please check back to ensure accuracy of memorial page updates.
Please be assured I do most updates, corrections and links (via SAC, email or message) within a day. Guidelines do suggest a member send no more than 20 per week to a single contributor but have no problem with receiving as many as needed to get the objective accomplished - which is getting memorials, and the cemeteries, as accurate and complete as humanly possible.
