I live in Benton County Iowa and have been interested in recording old cemeteries for many years now. I have taken records for many local cemeteries here in Benton, Iowa, and Tama Counties.|

Memorial# 79365831 Viola Pettit Hite, my Great Grandmother. I am decendent of her daughter Eunice Hite Edler. Consideration for the transfer is appreciated.

|ESVokoun||RE: Vokoun Surname|
Thank you for the information. I find it interesting that there seem to three clusters of Vokoun's born in the US between about 1870 and 1910: Chicago, Cleveland, and Iowa. Given how uncommon is the name Vokoun in the US, I have to wonder if there is a relation. My great grandfather was born about 1860 in Bohemia but I have no further information. I will concentrate on Plzen. Do you know port of departure or entry when your ancestors immigrated?

I am descended from Rudolf Vokoun and Lydia Otradovec who lived in Chicago from around 1895 until 1917. Their descendants lived in Oklahoma, Missouri, California and Oregon. I have often seen reference to the Nebraska Vokoun's and wondered if there is connection, probably via Bohemia / Moravia. Do you have any information on the Vokoun name in the Czech Republic?

You are right, and I apologize for my mistake! So it looks like you hold both memorials, so I assume you can add that memorial to the correct Mary.
I have the obit for the other Mary...funny that Ray married 2 Mary's...first one was a Roop, and the 2nd married a Roop after she married Ray McLain. I will send that obit to Find a Grave too.
Thanks for catching my errors, and being a volunteer on this site! And thanks for posting the obits to the correct Mary's!

Thanks forgetting back with me. You spell the name VanPelt without any space? I know that Dutch names never seem to be spaced on grave markers, but often are otherwise. I ask because I was at Block Cemetery to fulfill two photo requests for a Susan and Daniel Van Pelt with the space. Some one has just recently added their memorials. I always check for additional family before heading out and didn't think there but one because I had searched under the spelling Van Pelt. Then I saw several graves, and rechecked with the spelling VanPelt and saw all the memorials which you created or manage. I see that there are many Van Pelts/VanPelts in the Steuben Co area. Does the name spelling vary amongst family?

Are you any relation to the Van Pelts (you have it spelled VanPelt) whose memorials you created back in 2009? They are located in Block Cemetery, Steuben County Indiana.
