Bio Photo Hello, my name is Mark Douglas Browning and I recently moved from Tucson, Arizona to Dallas, Texas... and back to Tucson again!

I was born in Kentucky, and have lived in many other states across the U.S. including: New York, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Missouri, Texas, and Arizona.

My ancestors migrated to America from Germany, East Prussia, South Wales, England, Isle of Man, and Ireland. Some of these ancestors married Native Americans (Chickasaw and Cherokee). My paternal great grandfather was a Shupe/Shoop from Southwestern Virginia.

I descend from the Gross, Cooper, Brock, Simpson, Saylor and Salyer families of Harlan County, Kentucky as well as the Griffith family of Whitley and Bell County, Kentucky on my maternal grandmother's side. My Cooper and Evans families were originally from Campbell and Union County, Tennessee before moving to Harlan County, Kentucky.

I descend from the Carby and Hunt families of Grayson, Hardin, and Hart Counties in Kentucky as well as the Muss, Hopewell, and Foster families of Bullitt County, Kentucky on my maternal grandfather's side.

I descend from the Craig and Delk families of Whitley County, Kentucky and Campbell County, Tennessee; the Craig and Williams families of Union County, Tennessee; the Fox family of Campbell County, Tennessee and Whitley County, Kentucky; and the Lawson family of Whitley County, Kentucky on my paternal grandmother's side.

I descend from the Shupe/Shoop family of Wythe County, Grayson County, Scott County and Wise County, Virginia; The Browning family of Russell County, Virginia, then Lee County, Virginia, then Hawkins County, Tennessee and later Scott County and Wise County, Virginia and even later Harlan County, Kentucky; and the Looney family of Hawkins County, Tennessee on my paternal grandfather's side.

Books I have authored:
The Descendants of John Muss & Elizabeth Ceise

I am very happy to transfer memorials to family except in situations where the memorial created is a member of my family.

RE: William Spears
Find A Grave Memorial# 121669466 is where I found William Spears' name. Now I realize you may have only added the cemetery photo and perhaps my inquiry should have been directed to genieresearcher since that is who created the entry? I guess this is all part of the learning curve and I'm sorry if I've inconvenienced you.

Shoop/Shupe/Shoup
Hi Mark,

I pulled out old bible pages I was given by my father in law (Hezekiah Jackson Wells).

They have the spelling in the birth records as Shoup, starting with James Monroe & Marthey E.

Some of the other spellings -Shoupe, Shupe & Shoop.

Looks as though the original was Shoup.

RE: the name Haburn
I don't know between old and new ancestry DNA test, do you have a tab on your tree page for DNA that links you to matches and shows your ethnic make-up?

RE: the name Haburn
Only one Haburn in my tree (as of yesterday)

I had to slow my roll and calm down, otherwise I knew I would miss something, I started going through James & Ellen's Children one at a time. This That's when I found Leslie Haburn, I seen You found additional info on him, Thanks for giving me the links, I couldn't find anything after a Directory listing.

I was going to ask if you have given any more thought to the ancestry DNA test, I only have 4 matches to James Monroe and they are all descendants of Anna Lee "Annie Lizzie" I have a few more connected to Ferguson and even more connected to Johann "John", these of course are the ones who took the test and have a tree, so many were tested just to find out their ethnic background and don't have a tree or there are others who don't care to share. anyway if you also came in as a close match to me or Anna's family that might get you closer.

RE: Shoop/Shupe
Boy how time flies, seems you were just waiting for his arrival.

What a treasure chest of information, I'm having a hard time staying focused as I want to look at everyone. in addition to the death certificates there are birth records, believe those start about 1910 and marriage & divorce records with parents names. I found death certificates for 2 of James & Martha's daughters that we didn't have, Anna Lee who is listed as Annie Lizzie and Mary Elizabeth who married a Mr. Thomas after her marriage to James Dickenson, I couldn't find the cemetery listed on her certificate but Anna (Annie) has Crackers Neck listed, I would think it's the same as her parents. I'm on the hunt for Smith Shupe but no luck yet. you can check my tree for what I have found so far, almost forgot, take a look at Hezekiah Wells (Rachel Shupes husband) his mother is listed as Jennie but his brother has Catherine or Kate as morher?

I'm pretty much settled in, just helping my brother take care of parents, not going to miss those AZ summers ;)

So nice to hear from you too!
