Bio and Links
Bio Photo A link in the chain has been broken;
Your loved one has gone to rest.
But through your tear dimmed eyes you see,
That a loving God knows best.
And you must go on without her, and though your loss is great,
She will be there to meet you
At Heaven's Golden Gate.

By Marvel Bennett, written for my mother, Lois Goodman Skinner
A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says,
"Grieve not for me.
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song,
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine thru.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don't worry about falls
I miss you dearly, so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes we're together again.

Pine Grove, St. Leo, & Thayer
I stumbled across a partial one of Pine Grove once but with the ever changing internet can no longer find that listing.
There are open invitations from the Elk County Roots program for someone to do a survey. There is also a map evidently that the caretaker has of the plot layouts but to my knowledge it isn't published.
We decided to go there to do the backlog of requests a couple of years ago plus look for family relatives and like you just decided to shoot some of the interesting ones while we were there. That led to a request from a lawyer in Texas about one family which we went back to research and photograph for him outside of Find A Grave.

Ridgway Cemeteries
I've got relatives in all three - Gardner and Weilacher. Best thing is to Google a map of Ridgway and go to Satellite. 948 coming up from the railroad track - first entrance is Pine Grove - it has a big loop up the hill and back down and a small parallel drive to 948. The next entrance is the dividing line between Pine Grove and St. Leo's - going back in anything on the right is St. Leo's and Pine Grove on the left till you come to the tree line in back of Pine Grove. Turning right on that lane is the dividing line between St. Leo's in the front and Thayer in the back . At least to the best of my knowledge.

About a year ago they cut the evergreen trees up in Thayer by the Mauseleum which is locked. Never tried to get in there but I've heard it is difficult to photograph inside.

Drove past these many times on family trips to Warren and always thought they were just one big cemetery till we went up to fill some photo requests that had built up. Enjoyed tramping through them, however, having medical problems now and not able to tackle anythng on hillsides.

Ridgway Tri Cemeteries
Fascinating isn't it? Not to mention confusing because there are actually 3 cemeteries here.

Thayer and St. Leo's boundary is the last road at the brow of the hill which has the road going in towards the maseoleum. Everything from there to the main highway to Mout Morencie is St. Leo's. Everything else from the brow road back to the woods is Thayer.

Pine Grove has the mausoleums built into the hillside. If you follow the road that divides Thayer and St. Leo's towards the heart of Ridgway where it curves down the brow is the division line between Pine Grove and St. Leo's.

Then there are two more cemeteries on the Mount Morencie Road heading towards Sheffield. They are on the left hand side going out and back off the highway. Oakmont is marked along the highway while Ott is further out and about a mile off the main highway on the left.

Then there is Fairview on the road to Halton on the outskirts of Ridgway which is on the right hand side of the road.
