RE: John Q. Owens
Hi Linda,

Thanks for responding to my message - so we are distant cousins then! Yes, I think Stephen Owens was actually an older half-brother to John Quincy Owens. They were both sons of Nathaniel, but had different mothers. Off the top of my head, I can't think of Stephen's mother's name; however, I have it somewhere in my notes. There were two Owens' in the Civil War, 33rd Indiana Infantry - John Quincy and William H. Owens. I'm actually working on a website on the 33rd Indiana Infantry and hope to roll it out early fall. I wrote my M.A. thesis on the 33rd and hope to turn it into a book at some point. Unfortunately, the university keeps me distracted with less interesting projects :) I teach history for Indiana Wesleyan University. Would you happen to have any pictures of John Q. Owens, or know of another family member who does? Also, was his name simply John Quincy Owens or John Quincy Adams Owens? I've never seen the "Adams" part on any documents. In those days, it was common to name children after presidents and John Quincy Adams of course was a president. Hope to hear from you soon!

John Q. Owens
Hi Linda,

Are you an Owens family descendant? If so, I am as well. I'm a descendant of Stephen Owens, who was John Q. Owens' brother. I'd like to compare notes if you're a relative :)

RE: Taylor family
I have been working the Woolmarket Taylor's for quite some time and my childhood friend contacted me to help him with them. His mother was a Taylor, Ancestor Serreno and Spencer Whitfield is their ancestor. If you need any research on them, I probably have a good bit.
Just ran across some papers on Serreno's wife, she was the sister of Ralph Waldo Emerson. Never know what I will find.
My computer was at the technicians last week, windows had crashed. I have a back up with carbonite, so I don't loose stuff.
I had been looking for Marianne Emerline Bell Taylor (wife of Spencer Whitfield Taylor) and I finally found her in Repton Methodist Church Cemetery, Repton, Connecuh County, Alabama. She had been married before to a Peterman and he died in the Civil War of Typhoid Fever and I found him buried in Warrenton Cemetery Warrenton, Fauquier County, Virginia, so if you are looking for him and her, that is where they are.

Keep that confederate flag flying. Our ancestors need the respect.

You weren't kidding about the We left home at 4am and got there just in time for the 9:30am church service at Salem. We met someone at the church who has a key to the cemetery. He drove us there from the church and let us in. Afterwards he took us to where Samuel Davis' house used to be. It was a completely awesome experience.

Redmon family
Linda I have sent you request to transfer several memorials to me. They are my Wife's Family. I had requested from Mae to transfer with no response, then realized she had died and was buried in Texas. on several occasions I tried to get them transferred with no response from Find A Grave. Thank you.
