Bio Photo Being raised with a strong sense of family, and the stories of how my great-great grandfather, Moses Asbell, originally homesteaded 160 acres in the late 1800's, I'm very proud of my family hertiage.

My geneological persuit of family records began in 1981, canvassing through microfilm reels at the LDS Geneological Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. Today, the technology of computerized records and websites like, it has been a much easier and enjoyable journey.

My contribution to has begun with my own family cemetery, which is so very special to me.

The Asbell Family Cemetery was established in October 1978, for the direct descendants of my grandparents, James Shelton and Ila Watson Asbell, on 80 acres of the original family homestead. It was my grandfather's desire to be buried on the hill, under the large hickory tree that stood near the site of the old house, where he was born and raised.

The cemetery's unique tree design commemorates that old hickory tree, as well as the family's strong Christian roots. My grandparent's grave location depicts the tree trunk, with each of their nine children spreading out in branches. Each child of Shelton & Ila are represented, as memorial markers indicate those who were buried in other cemetery locations.

I posted the NOAH ASBELL lot of graves with the 4 adult unmarked graves and the unmarked child grave, with Robert Lee Asbell and Bessie Hunter Asbell within that photo. Noah, Robert Lee, and Bessie are the only marked graves in this lot, though.

I scanned over Bold Springs Cemetery near Pine Park Community in Grady County, Georgia. I found NOAH ASBELL's lot. Facing due west I found a lot Marked with and "A" on one corner, and a partial concrete perimeter. Closest to me were 3 Unmarked Graves, followed by Noah's grave, and then another Unmarked Grave. These are on ROW 10, at MARKERS 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9, respectively (Noah is at MARKER 8). Directly behind Noah & the Unmarked Grave (8 & 9) beside him are the graves of Robert Lee Asbell (1880-1964) and Bessie Hunter Asbell (1891-1937). They are on ROW 9, MARKERS 4 & 5, respectively. BEHIND the 3 Unmarked Graves beside Noah, could be at least one, two or three graves that never received coverstones. A depression seems to show on the third one, closest to Robert Lee Asbell. The 3 left of Noah and one right of Noah, have unmarked coverstones for adults. West of those 3 are either available burial spots or unmarked graves that have no credits in "the books." My thinking is IF the newspaper is correct in the obituary in 1953, then it may well be possible that JOSEPH ASBELL is buried in an unmarked grave, or never had a stone placed there. After all, it was a "family lot" and with 3 brothers surviving him, it would "seem" logical he is there. I took a photo of the lot itself, if you want those photos uploaded to this Joseph Asbell's listing please let me know.

I.G. Asbell - Andrews Cemetery

I photographed this cemetery this afternoon and realized this evening you had a photo request for Mr. Asbell. I uploaded his grave photo for you. This cemetery is very neglected and overgrown; I tried my best to pull weeds and grass off of headstones and slabs, but since the weeds were waist-high, a few of them made it into the photos I took. I do apologize! Fortunately, Mr. Asbell's photo turned out much better than some of the others. Hope this helps,

Deilila (sp) ASBELL requested photo may be an unmarked grave. I've not sought to search the cem yet. She's not listed in the books. However, NOAH ASBELL is at Marker 8 on ROW 10. The 2006 book indicates "unmarked graves" at Markers 7 and 9 on ROW 10. The book's latest Addendum 2011 has a "W.T. ASBELL" listed after NOAH, so I sort of assume that's Marker 9. Same Addendum, only listings BEFORE ROW 10, Marker 8 (Noah), the second from last listing indicates an "unmarked grave, wife of NOAH ASBELL" and presents the name of "ANGELINE HILL ASBELL b. Aug 1848, d. 02 Jun 1929". Of course, anyone can remarry and/or this may not be whom you are seeking. I will search this as soon as possible, but will not upload an unmarked grave photo for your request unless you want it. You can email me at Thanks. (I also do not see a JOSEPH ASBELL listed in either books, either. But more "unmarked graves" exist along ROW 10, preceding NOAH.)
