Hi, will you be adding grave photos for General Thomas Trapnell and his wife, #126549221, both buried at the U.S. Military Academy Cemetery? Thanks

Norman was my father's first cousin. He was not a veteran of WWI.
|Ellen||RE: Re: Mary Strother Duffields|
The info I sent should have been posted to Richard's bio; instead it is posted to Mary's bio. If I sent it via the wrong link, my apologies. It obviously refers to Richard:
"Married in 1806 in Washington County, Md. Elizabeth Darke, granddaughter of General William Darke and daughter of John Darke. They had a son, John W. Duffield, 1809-1880. Elizabeth died in 1813. Bio by Ellen."
Richard's first wife, Elizabeth Darke, died in 1813. I don't know where she was buried. There was a family burial ground on the Darke property and she could be there, but if so there is no stone.
Richard married his second wife, Mary Strother, after Elizabeth's death; their marriage was 7 Jun 1814 in Jefferson County, Virginia (now West Virginia).
Elizabeth was an heiress under her grandfather's will, her father having predeceased her grandfather. The value of her slaves alone exceeded $1500 on her death. Some of the General's plantation passed to the Duffield heirs and the location is now known as Duffields.
Probate records for Elizabeth refer to her as Elizabeth Duffield, formerly Elizabeth Darke.
Hope this helps. Thanks for filling in the bio info, even if I don't have a memorial for her.

I took the liberty of turning the picture so it would be proper. I gave attribution in the caption.
When adding photos to memorials I have added to Find A Grave, Please center them and place them on the memorials vertical.
Thanks in advance for fixing this error.

Thank you very much for the fine photograph of the marker of Knott. He was killed the day before Lee and his ANV capitulated. You took a nice shot.

Hi Bill, Pen Mar is in Washington Co., MD. My wife grew up in Pen Mar and there was a Jordan family who lived here in the 60's and 70's, she thought you may be one of them. Thanx, Mel

No I haven't been in WV in years. I am in NC.
Maybe someone else who is closer could do it for you.
