Georgia (Decatur, and now Cherokee County) has been home for two thirds (most) of my life. Two sons, three granddaughters, and three grandsons, all of whom are Georgians. |
An Amarillo, Texas native (and 10 yr. native of Fort Worth), and seven generations removed from Patrick and Margaret McCullough Phinney of Chester (District)County, SC, dating from 1786.
History at times surpasses genealogy as the greater interest. This site is a compilation of stories from individuals responsible for that history, and it never ceases to improve with each addition.
Paternal Lineage: Phinney, Crosser, Wright, McCullough
Maternal Lineage : Daniel, Newman, Talley, Magee
"Tis but a few whose days amount
To three score and ten
And all beyond that short account
Is sorrow, toil and pain."
(from Nancy Agnes Austen McCreight headstone)

Wes, I checked on her parents, and you are correct. I submitted edits to connect them to her. Thanks. Margot

Can you tell me what the tombstone says?

|Joe Skorupa||RE: Acquilina Tucker|
You're welcome, I'm glad I could help!
Also, she was buried next to several other Tuckers so I added photos for them as well.
Mary Ann Tucker
Hope that helps!
|C Bozeman||RE: Polly Reinhardt|
The source I used on Mary Polly Matthews Reinhardt says Polly was another name. It does NOT give her parents.but says she was born in Lincoln County, North Carolina and married Adam Hoyle Reinhardt in Waleska, Cherokee county Ga on 26 Nov. 1848. I have Matthews connections from Tifton which also link to Cherokee co. So was disappointed that parents not named.
|Richard Cutler||RE: R P Lackey|
I noticed the 1880 census - a year before R.P. Lackey died, he was living in Milton County, GA which now no longer exist and is now 5 counties combined. I think the Bartow location came from somebody on ancestry.com who placed his death there and now I'm wondering since R.P. is buried in Fulton County, that's where it should be.

|Richard S. Clark||Re: Rev. John Rankin Lee|
Thank you for the transfer of John's memorial. It is much appreciated.
|James Cavener||RE: Newton Tippin|
Errata - I just noticed that my earlier post about Newton being John L. Tippin[g]'s son. John's name is not spelled with a final "g" - my mistake.
|James Cavener||RE: Newton Tippin|
My grandmother, Mabel Lee Tippin Cavener, was the granddaughter of Newton A. Tippin (bur. Kingston GA)and great-granddaughter of John L. Tipping, according to family oral history.
