Genealogy is a passion of mine from when I was very young. My grandmother told me wonderful stories about our families and I have been doing family history for over 30 years. I have traveled all over the world photographing family graves and writing books on my different families. I need another 25 years to finish everything I have started!|
PLEASE do not add birth or death certificates to my memorials!

|Howard (Kip) Carter||Fauntleroy Family Burying Ground|
Good afternoon, Mrs. Bennett,
The Fauntleroy family members, buried at Fauntleroy Family Burying Ground at Farmer's Mount, Whitehall, King and Queen County, Virginia, are ancestors of my favorite grandmother. I definitely remember her Fauntleroy coat of arms handing in the living room of her home.
Is there a chance that you have pictures of any of the markers at the burial ground? Or is it possible that you could provide either directions on finding the burial ground or possibly a GPS location.
I thank you ahead of time.
Howard Culpeper Carter, Jr. "Kip"
Thanks for taking the time to honor my request. Your photo is greatly appreciated.

Karen, I have no idea why Copperheads find it necessary to climb up trees, only to fall off perfectly good branches! You've convinced me to not go gravestone-hunting until November. It's not worth the risk.
Wife is doing ok, much improved. Part of her trouble was the medicine she was on... A classic case of the cure being worse than the affliction.
Will be back in touch with you with any news regarding the Majors and these cemeteries.
Thanks, Karen. I'll get up there as soon as I safely can, but I want the weather to cool off, just like you do! If I have to wait for the autumn, well, so it goes. Those gravestones have been there 200 years, they'll probably still be there in November.... no one wants to build anything there as far as I know. Nothing's there now but a house and a cow pasture.
A gun sounds like a good idea. A shotgun especially, with a snake there might not be much time to aim! This cemetery isn't far off a well-travelled road - maybe less than 150 feet - but besides the fallen gravestones it's rock-strewn and there are a lot of fallen branches, so there are plenty of places for snakes to hide under/behind, or even sun themselves on (at least you can see those in advance), and there are trees overhanging the place, (sometimes snakes go arboreal - after birds' and squirrels' nests, I guess) and occasionally they'll fall off the branches to the ground, or onto anyone in the way. (If they evolve and develop wings, that'll be big trouble!)

It was my pleasure to send you the links. I was working on his parents' memorials. Any time I find something for someone else as I go along, I share what I find.
Now all the California Alchimisti memorials on find A Grave are looking good. I transferred the abandoned ones I worked on to Find A Grave.
Thank you for updating so quickly. :) Have a great summer.

|Shiredweller||Major Quarter Crem., VA|
Karen it's been 4 months since I last communicated with you. At that time we were wondering if we had the same people listed in 2 different cemeteries. I was waiting for warmer weather to go see in person. Well when that weather came my wife was back in the hospital, and now that she is out (and better) the weather is pretty hot, which brings me to the next little snag in my plans.... we discussed back in Feb the snake situation ... Copperheads are very active in VA this year for some reason, so I'll need to take my son in law with me so he can watch for snakes while I photograph the gravestones. Not his idea of a good time! (Or mine, for that matter... but for me it's a calling, for him it's humoring his crazy father in law.) The gravestones lying face down on the ground are a big concern, no telling what I might find when I lift them up --- which is too bad since those are the very ones I most need to see. I might leave those until November and just see what else I can find out without risking snakebite. Meanwhile I see you removed your Majors from the Major Quarter cem., you really didn't need to do that, but I will be sure to let you know if it was premature. Best wishes, Pete
Thanks for adding the photos, Karen. Much appreciated. :)
