Bio and Links
Bio Photo My interest in genealogy began 64 years ago when I followed my mother's and grandmother's conversations as they traced relationships of their friends and family.

My memorials are family members, then relatives of relatives. My childhood piano teacher and other early settlers, friends of my parents and grandparents were next. Being from a small Nebraska town, this can be quite involved. But interesting. Very interesting.

As a Find A Grave photo volunteer for Lone Fir Pioneer Cemetery, I sometimes stumble - literally - over a neglected or forgotten grave marker. I add information or create memorials for the lives I discover in this way.

I do not know Connie Lenzen or the Oregon Genealogy Guild. I do love Lone Fir but haven't been there for quite awhile. Thanks to you and others who are good at searching cemetery records and cemeteries:)

I spend most of my time doing research and use Historic Oregon Newspapers frequently and also the Multnomah County Library researchers are great help. I also belong to a Facebook site called Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness. It is a good source and can be entertaining too:)

I will try to get in touch with Metro about Elwood Burton. When I just searched his name on Historic Oregon Newspapers, I got a lot of hits so I think there is a lot more to know about him.

Burtons again
Linda, Thanks for your efforts and taking the photos. Were the buried markers theirs but unmarked?

Burtons in Lone Fir Cemetery
I am surprised that their graves are unmarked. Elwood and Rhoda Burton were the parents of Georgiana (Burton) Pittock the wife of Henry Pittock who built the well-known Pittock House in Portland. Elwood was also the well-known architect of the courthouse in Portland. I am no relation, just interested in the family. Henry and Georgiana's granddaughter, Elizabeth "Betty" (Leadbetter) Meier just died in Portland at 110 years of age and I made her memorial and then followed the family to make links. Too bad their aren't headstones:(

E. W. and Rhoda Burton
I wonder if their daughter, Helen, is buried between them? She died in 1904 and I thought she was in River View but she is not. Do you have access to records at Lone Fir? Thanks:)

Carle family
Thank you so much for the very nice photos of the Carle markers. Yes, the boys were the babies of TJ and his second wife, Mildred. Sadly, Ada only lived a few months after her marriage. Thank you also for the photo of her father JJ's spot; I guess there was no one left to provide him a headstone. I appreciate all your help on this!

Re: Thomas Rodnsy Whitmore
Thanks again for the photos. Would it be possible to remove one of your three pictures from memorial 137965064 so the family can add another photo? I have removed my newspaper jpg for that purpose. Thank you for helping.
