We started out just two guys who have an interest in genealogy and old things.
One of us (Eric) has relatives at Multnomah Park, the other (David) is repaying a debt to genealogists who supplied him with a huge amount of information from Sweden.
We have listed most of the graves in this large public cemetery, which contains well over 11,000 residents.
The 'death' dates for people may be their burial dates. We are working off Metro's data base which gives the burial date of the deceased up until the 1970's.
If you have any information on any of the residents of Multnomah Park, please let us know so it can be posted. We'd like these people to be more than just a name with dates. They (we) all have a story to tell! [May 2013: we have many corrections to add. Thank you for sending them. It WILL take us awhile to go thru and add all of the corrections. Please have some patience.]
.
If you would like us to transfer a relative to you, we expect you to be an active contributor to FindAGrave. IF you are only maintaining your relatives' graves and not actively contributing by adding non-relatives' graves chances are we won't transfer someone to you. We expect you to add non-relatives to FindAGrave because in that way everyone benefits.
The data base supplied to us by Metro, the current managing agency for Multnomah Park has a lot amount of unknowns, and that's where the X's come in. IF you see an "X" in the plot information it means it is unknown in the data base that we just finished transcribing and entering for all people to see and use. Note that Metro inherited the records from another agency who inherited them from a previous owner.

IF we haven't gotten around to updating the information you have kindly provided to us in what you might consider a timely manner, please keep in mind that we are volunteers - and please send us a reminder if you haven't heard back from us in a timely manner.
We are making periodic trips to the state archives in Salem to make copies of Death Certificates. If you need one please inquire. Driving an hour to Salem to copy documents in the state archives is beyond what is a normal volunteer activity - especially with the price of gas.

Thank you, David and Eric.

John Stout
I wish to thank you for transferring Grandpa John Stout's page in Find a grave to me...it is so appreciated ...in 2002 we were in Portland..we went to the count house found his death certificate, i then spend a day tracking down all the funeral homes asking each one if they had any records of taking care of him...finally i found the right one...and she was able to give me the cemetery name...i then called the cemetery got the plot lot and block numbers, in a pouring rain we walked from one end to the other of the cemetery, when at last a caretaker came driving in...we ask for help and he took us to the space...which was grass no stone...he said it's right here and he began to dig...when the small stone with his name J. Stout appeared both my husband(who's grandfather it is)and i began to cry what a wonderful feeling to have found him...thank you so much

Harold D. Lasley
Birth Year
Birth year should be 1827, not 1837. If you subtract the years that he lived (77), shown on the tombstone, from the death year of 1904, the answer is 1827.

I have "moved" him to the proper cemetery and noted the lack of cemetery record for the burial.

Thanks for the information.
