I have been working on genealogy for about 25 years. I just found out about Find A Grave a few months ago. What a handy tool this is. I enjoy going around to different cemeteries looking at all the old headstones, and taking pictures for people who might not every see the headstonesof there ancestors if someone didn't take pictures for them.
If anyone finds an error, please let me know and I will correct it. Also anyone who would like to add something, I can also do that for you.
For over 15 years I have been seriously researching my Gibbons family, with a beginning origin in South Carolina (Joseph Franklin Gibbons 1839 and still searching for information prior to that), also researching the Paris family (Rhoda Catherine Paris) from Spartanburg, South Carolina and the Giles families from that area.
From there the search has taken me into Harlan and Bell Counties in Kentucky, and surrounding counties in VA & TN, later on to Rockcastle and Lincoln Counties in KY also. In KY families that connect with our Gibbons are: Fee's, Green, Burkhart, Hensley, Wynn, Wilson and more.
My grandfather Andrew Jackson Gibbons was born in SC, was raised and married Margaret Fee in Harlan County KY. They raised their family in Lee Co. VA. Andrew Jackson Gibbons brothers are, James Giles, John Giles, Spurgeon Gibbons, Willie Gibbons, Campbell Gibbons, Frank Gibbons II and Nathan Gibbons. No known sisters.
If anyone has information of any of these families I would be very appreciative of anything you are willing to share.
I am also working on a register for Rose Hill Cemetery in Robinson, Kansas.
Gaylord Washman I went to the city this week to research Gaylord. There is a stone in the cemetery for his sister Nettie Washman. Her obit, her death record and her stone spells name Washman. Her obit names her brother Gaylord Washman in the service. His nmae is consistently spelled Washman in ALL records I found on the internet. The obituary had it spelled incorrectly.
The family must have had a ceremony at Netties marker, but Gaylord was not buried here. Neither were his cremains. My suggestion would be to remove his name from the cemetery, make a note his sister is buried here. Chose the option "cremated, location of ashes not known".
The odd thing is there is no record of Netties burial here. People have been known to place stones in this cemetery without notifying the city. My next plan is to contact the funeral home to see if they recorded the burial.
Nancy Ann (Meyer) Buckles TO: Vernon Gibbons, You have misspelled the last names of Richard M. Meyer and Alvin Meyer on our sister Nancy Ann (Meyer) Buckles site. You have put an (S) on the end of our last name. Please make this correction. Also, my address is Bolivar, MO. you have Oregon, Mo. I am Alvin Meyer. You have Richard M. Meyer address as Bolivar Mo. but it should be Oregon, MO. Please make the above corrections.
Nancy Ann (Meyer) Buckles You have entered the obit for my sister and have left out two of her brothers who are living. I, Alvin Meyer, of Bolivar Mo is the first one and Richard M. Meyer of Oregon Mo. is the other.
Richard and I were left out of the obit in the first publication in the News-Press, but the correction was made later.
Please add Richard M. Meyer and Alvin Meyer who are living brothers of Nance Ann (Meyer)Buckles to the obit you posted.
Carol Gaye Sweet. You have added her but have the wrong birth date...and I was going to add her myself. She is my sister...I want you to transfer this to me...along with any other members of the Carson...and Liebsch families. Thank you..
Rowene Schmidt FAG #157148106 You have entered her but not where she is buried. In the Messenger of Truth Vol 114 No. 5 dated March 2, 2016, her obit appears and says she is at the Jamesport Mennonite Church Cemetery, Jamesport, Daviess, Missouri. It states that the funeral services were held at the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Jamesport, Missouri, on January18, 2016, ...burial was in the adjoining church cemetery. Hope this is a help.
