I have been working on genealogy for about 25 years. I just found out about Find A Grave a few months ago. What a handy tool this is. I enjoy going around to different cemeteries looking at all the old headstones, and taking pictures for people who might not every see the headstonesof there ancestors if someone didn't take pictures for them.|
If anyone finds an error, please let me know and I will correct it. Also anyone who would like to add something, I can also do that for you.
For over 15 years I have been seriously researching my Gibbons family, with a beginning origin in South Carolina (Joseph Franklin Gibbons 1839 and still searching for information prior to that), also researching the Paris family (Rhoda Catherine Paris) from Spartanburg, South Carolina and the Giles families from that area.
From there the search has taken me into Harlan and Bell Counties in Kentucky, and surrounding counties in VA & TN, later on to Rockcastle and Lincoln Counties in KY also. In KY families that connect with our Gibbons are: Fee's, Green, Burkhart, Hensley, Wynn, Wilson and more.
My grandfather Andrew Jackson Gibbons was born in SC, was raised and married Margaret Fee in Harlan County KY. They raised their family in Lee Co. VA. Andrew Jackson Gibbons brothers are, James Giles, John Giles, Spurgeon Gibbons, Willie Gibbons, Campbell Gibbons, Frank Gibbons II and Nathan Gibbons. No known sisters.
If anyone has information of any of these families I would be very appreciative of anything you are willing to share.
I am also working on a register for Rose Hill Cemetery in Robinson, Kansas.

Dear Mr. Gibbons:
First, as a fellow findagraver, genealogist, and friend of Martha Menzel, also a findagraver, I find your comments to her regarding "cemetery hoarding" out of line and totally offensive. Martha and her husband do incredible work, and far be it for anyone to "cast the first stone".
I had intended only to defend Martha's work by sending you this message. However, after reading the numerous comments left by other findagravers, it appears that your work smacks of hypocrisy.
As a fervent, courteous request ... please re-evaluate your priorities as you continue to contribute to findagrave. A little honey and good will toward others goes a long way in this community.
Do NOT create duplicate memorials (see guidlelines which state, in part, Before adding a memorial, you should search the cemetery to see if a record with that name has already been added. If you are adding a memorial for someone who does not have a physical grave or memorial marker in a cemetery (perhaps their ashes were scattered), please do a general search on Find A Grave (do not enter a location) to see if a memorial has already been created for that person.)
You are just a memorial hoarder

This is my father and the memorial you posted for him is incorrect. You have him buried in Kimeo, Kansas. My father is buried in Wheaton, Kansas and I already have a memorial for him posted to this site. Please delete this listing. Thanks.

Vernon, Thanks again so much for adding (& fixing) the 2 daughter's names - and so quickly. Terry
|Robyn Brewster||Question for you|
I was wondering if the picture you posted is of Iola Cemetery in Sparks, Doniphan County, Kansas? There are twenty-two photo request for pictures from the cemetery, but I don't recognize any of the names. If it is, I plan to do the pictures while visiting family buried there. Thanks for letting me know.

According to Rupp Mortuary, Mary is buried in FT LEAVENWORTH NATIONAL CEMETERY, NOT NATIONAL LEAVENWORTH. They said that Ft Leavenworth gets abreviated to National and it is full and not accepting anymore bodies. SO DELETE YOUR COPY OF MARY L HOOVER LUKEHART. You have her maiden name spelled wrong anyway.

Duplicate to 133431519. You have the wrong death date. You are ignoring me that's why I am putting it here. Also, I've requested a merge/deletion of your entries. Why are you posting the listings with the wrong death date and then ignoring me?
