Bio and Links
Bio Photo Charles Finnell (1762-1842) is buried outside the village of Mount Airy in Randolph County, Missouri. Born in Orange County, Virginia, he served as a teenager in Washington's army and was present at the British surrender at Yorktown. Later, as a Baptist preacher, he helped found churches in both Kentucky and Missouri.

I am one of Charles Finnell's many descendants.

Please contact me if you'd like to swap info or to correct biographies I may have gotten wrong.

I will happily transfer ownership of memorials of folks I'm not closely related to. Let me know.

RE: Coy G Finnell
You are welcome. Are you related to Coy? I actually knew him and Joy. He delivered something(can't remember what) to my family's grocery store.

Re: D.C. listings...
You are one of the very few who actually get it right and list D.C. only once (not twice) for birth and death dates. Long story but not used after 1840 and is there cause some graves predate this.
Again, you got yours right!

re: Forrest Raymond Finnell
I am trying to identify the place of burial of Joan Esther Finnell, the older of two daughters of Forrest Finnell and his wife Dorthy Verlin Grindle. All three were enumerated in 1940 at household 54 of North Manchester, Indiana. Joan, who died at Chapel Hill, North Carolina on 7 July 1995, is identified in the North Carolina Death Indexes as Joan Esther Coil and this same source reports that she was buried in state. I have not found her on findagrave, and I also don't know the name of her husband and any surviving children (if any). I would like this information to help complete a "reverse pedigree" for John Banta (1805-64) from whom she is descended. Your help would be appreciated. David Davenport

your help
Thanks to both you and Cynthia for reminding me that I needed to correct the spouses for Pearl Alice Hess Blair McGinnis, #65276672 and get them in the correct order - finally had to erase both husbands to get the system to do that. Thanks!
