Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a retired Army Officer, Civil War enthusiast, and amateur genealogist with an excellent camera. I am also an old geezer who needs the exercise I get walking the 100+ cemeteries of Rockbridge County, Virginia (most of them are hilly).

For those of you relying on me responding quickly to photo requests, the situation has changed. Due to my age and decreased mobility, there are a few cemeteries I can no longer negotiate. But I will in most instances give it a try if the route from my car to the marker is fairly even and cleared ground.

If anyone is not satisfied with any photo of a grave marker that I have taken, please let me know via email and I will be glad to either remove it or retake the image. Likewise, if I create a memorial that is offensive or incorrect in any way, let me know and I will either correct the information or remove the memorial.

I try hard to take a photograph where the information on the marker is readable in the image. I DO NOT CLEAN STONES, but upon request, I will return when there is a different light situation to see if I can capture a better image. Also, I do not post images to a memorial that already has a photo unless there is a request for a better photo. But I may at times add a photo to a memorial that has no image even without a request.

Family members have my permission to privately use my photos of the grave markers of your ancestors for genealogical purposes on sites such as Ancestry.com or Rootsweb.com, but DO NOT COPY elsewhere on Find A Grave, Billion Graves, other sites listing graves, the internet or for commercial use. My photos all have a copyright embedded in the image metadata. Please email me if you use one of my photos so I know they are being appreciated elsewhere.

I will be glad to transfer any memorial I have created if it is for one of your ancestors within 4 generations and not in my direct line. Once I transfer a memorial, you may alter it, but it shall NOT be deleted.

RE: Ramer Veldran
Carl; I have just completed taking photos on 99% of the cemetery, about 2 rows to go. I did not see any other Veldran markers. There are however, a fair number of stones that are now illegible. I will me making one more trip in the near future so I will check that area once again.
Regards.....Don Short

RE: Motherspaugh, James and Sarah
Had time to check them out today, and Wm Lee Mutispaugh is the son of Jas and Sarah Motherspaw, who you confirmed is buried beside them. Thanks for the headsup.

RE: Motherspaugh, James and Sarah
Thanks Carl, Perfect. Hope I didn't confuse you. Yes, I'm amazed also to find all the different spellings of this surname at SJMC, alone. Let me know if you have any of the various spellings in your photo library and I'll be glad to request them.

Jas F Motherspaugh at SJMCem
Greetings Carl,
Thanks so much for photographing James's shared marker and helping to correct the multiple spellings of his surname. I made a photo request for the rest of the folks, on the marker. Please add yours to them Just noticed there is already a site for Jas F Muterspaugh, so I will be voiding my new site, and alerting site creator of new spelling. I made a request for your photo there, too. All in a day's work. Happy Independence Day.

You're welcome. It is too bad that they didn't have individual stones in the family plot though.
