Bio and Links
Bio Photo I'm doing my best to connect family links (parents and children) to my kin (direct and collateral) and really appreciate all who have kindly added the connections for me. I'm glad to add yours also.

I so appreciate all the volunteer photographers who take the time and TLC to go out and take the grave photos. For hard to read older graves, RB suggests a way to photograph the visually missing data. She suggests using a mirror and reflecting the sun onto the hard to read area. You can even use two mirrors if you need to twist the sun's direction. I haven't tried it but thought I'd share it.

If you're interested in the symbols found on gravestones, check out two good sites at and Neat informative sites. Are you a taphophile or tombstone tourist?

Check out Scotch-Irish Presbyterians From Ulster to Rockbridge, by Angela M. Ruley, 3 October 1993. Angela headed the Rockbridge Area Genealogy Society and wrote several impressive publications on Rockbridge Co. This well written article combines pretty much everything I've found and more.

I welcome all additions, connections, corrections or changes and transfers so please feel free to contact me.

I do not mean any disrespect to Mrs. Sterrett although wanted to document her affiliation to the Wytheville Presbyterian Church and post her lovely picture.

Thanks for the explanation. I was totally confused by the two memorials. If you will re-send the correction suggestion I will go ahead and approve it.

Do you also need to send a correction suggestion for her second memorial?

Grave of Matthew Hanna. On your memorial you left references to several deeds that reference John Galbraith. Do you by any chance have copies you'd be willing to share?
Thank you

I doubt that he is the Paddy that you're for. The headstone/memorial is listed as:

In Loving Memory Of

Mary & Donal Gosling
Catherine & Mary Cross
Paddy & Julia Egan

There aren't any dates listed...

Hope this helps, Anita

Thanks so much for the transfer of this memorial and the edit of her middle name. Since I live in Michigan it is a bit of a hike to Lexington so I don't get to see who is buried there. Again, thanks for the transfer. Just curious as to how you knew she was buried in Andrew Jackson Cemetery?
