I'm doing my best to connect family links (parents and children) to my kin (direct and collateral) and really appreciate all who have kindly added the connections for me. I'm glad to add yours also. |
I so appreciate all the volunteer photographers who take the time and TLC to go out and take the grave photos. For hard to read older graves, RB suggests a way to photograph the visually missing data. She suggests using a mirror and reflecting the sun onto the hard to read area. You can even use two mirrors if you need to twist the sun's direction.

There were a few with nicknames that I decided not to use. Several had details that were obviously the truth, but not something to include online. A great little journal kept by a man who never knew that someday it would be available to anyone with a computer.

Hi,please don't think I'm a total idiot, but until you mentioned it ,I have never heard of the word cenotaph. I put my listing of Louis back in the Faulkenberry cem. Once I contact find a grace asking them to classify his listing as a cenotaph how will it make his memorial look different.

I'm trying to figure out what went on...I got one clipping in 1941 about an open house nearby for the benefit of St. James up the road but talking about how this is close to Calvert and it was from the Post news office in Leonardtown. Go figure. At the Emanuel UMC down below Huntingtown, there's a woman who has 2 names on her marker which does not match whats in her obit. The name the office has doesn't match any of them. She had one marriage nobody knew about. She used to live near Andrews AFB. Her mother just passed at 105. Been watching this one for 5 years...Still, I like a good mystery. Found over 20+ vets returned from WW II between 1945 and 1950 for re-burial, some without any notice that they were vets. Some have never been found. One is in Calvert - just a cenotaph - he's still in France from D-Day. His folks are from Prince Frederick but he also trained at Solomons for D-Day...just gathering facts...
