Raised in Dillon, SC and attended school there. Entered Clemson University and graduated in 1962 with a B.S. Degreee in Forestry. Entered the Air Force after graduation and attended many Navigator Schools and ultimately was certified in B-52's. Had a couple of tours during the Vietnam War. After 7 years, entered the civilian life and worked in Personnel in a Primary Paper Mill. After a few years I transferred to the packaging side of the industry and finally retired as the National Accounts Sales Manager, Southeast, for Packaging Corp of America.
I married Peggy M. Kelley from Pendleton, SC, whom I met while attending Clemson. We have been married for 53 years and have one son, Eric.
I have been researching our extended family for 26 years (2016) and have published two books, Descendants of John "Merchant" Cameron (606 pages), and Descendants of Daniel "Hill" Cameron (1,007 pages). Both of these books are for my Cameron Family (my mother's side).

I would appreciate it if you would transfer Mary Blackstock (17244601) to me. She is my sister-in-law's grandmother. Thank you for your consideration.

Hello fellow Find A Grave member,
I had planned on accepting your request to HILLCREST Memorial Park in Pickens, SC, however I spoke to a representative who was quick to inform me, and I quote, "HIPAA laws prevent anyone from obtaining burial plot information or taking pictures; only direct family members or the plot owners are allowed to do so."
I am familiar with HIPAA laws because I work in the healthcare field. To make sure that I had not missed any information, I reviewd the website www.hhs.gov/hipaa. No where on that site, could I find any information that would pertain to a cemetery, much less one refusing to give burial information or allowing photography. HIPAA laws are meant to protect your medical information, not the location of your burial spot. I also checked the Pickens County website, again, I did not find any information to support what the representative told me.
I contacted a few other local cemeteries to see if they would tell me the same thing and none of them knew anything about these supposed privacy laws. One of the other cemeteries was even maintained by a neighboring county. I would think if any cemetery office would know, it would be the one maintained by a government office!
By the conclusion of the call, the cemetery representative mumbled something about if the person making the Find A Grave request would call the cemetery office, give their relationship to the deceased, then the plot information might be released. He continued to mumble something about possibly taking pictures but it was almost entirely inaudible, then he hung up on me.
I ask that if you wish to continue with your request, call the Hillcrest Memorial Park office at 864-878-9312 to obtain the plot information. I am not sure of their exact hours, but I would suggest calling between 9:00am-5pm, EST.

not sure what you did to not get a result, I copied the link directly from your message and pasted it into a new browser tab, and went right to Laurens Benton Nickles' entry. You could also have taken the 103250937 and searched for the entry that way also.
The entry is for Laurens Benton Nickles 1859-1923, but the grave photo you added is for a different Laurens Benton Nickles with birth and death dates 1920-1972.
The photo on this entry needs to be deleted, it's not for the deceased represented in that entry.

You are quite welcome. I was there in October and photographed the entire cemetery - several of my ancestors are buried there also.

I enjoy doing service for others. I checked with the churches to see if they had any records. Most did not start keeping "real" records until the '60s or 70s. I checked every stone in all three Presbyterian Churches. I did manage to get most of your request, so it wasn't in vain. And I feel you would have done the same for me. Thanks for being a good person. Bruce
|SGM HORNE||RE: Annie McKay|
Thank you. She very well may be there. Several McKay's are in an area surrounded by unmarked graves. I decided to finishing photographing this cemetery, and am now working on Johnson grove. Took several pictures for you there. Stay happy
