Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been retired since May of 2001, spending a lot of my time on my Zahn Family Tree. I know the importance of names and dates... and the US Federal Census. I like helping others and this is a great way to do so.

If there is anyone in need and I can help, I will if I can. I also love to correspond.

My Family tree is very large. Our Zahns settled in Westminster, Maryland and we are many. Some moved west and I have met some of my Iowa cousins, some of my Virginia Cousins and some of my Maryland Cousins. Cousins Gary Zahn and George Thacker are very helpful and in return, I help them, as well as information swapped between many distant cousins.
I am also looking into the John Douglas Family from Douglas, Georgia and the Stephens' Twins who migrated from NC to Ramer, AL and then most went south to Myakka Florida during or right after the Civil War.

I look forward to adding to the Findagrave database.

I now live in Maryville, TN. Names of interest include:
Zahn, Hayden (in Virginia), Convers/e (any, leading back to Deacon Edward Convers of Woburn, Mass), Ringwood, NY (Cork County Ireland), Yingling, Rice, Holmes of Charleston, SC...and more.....

Converse - Danville Illinois
Hopefully I can explain what I've found - as I was looking for your photo request for "Child Converse 1874-1877, who may be Charles R. Converse.

Child Converse - Spring Hill Cemetery, Danville.

His Father (Dr. James Henry Converse) is in Block 14a, Lot 8 [I do have a photo of his headstone, if you request it - I can fulfill it.]

His Mother, Margaret Converse is in the same lot (Block 14a, Lot 8), but there is NO HEADSTONE for her.

There is a 3rd person in the same lot, Charles R. Converse.
Cemetery Records = had date of death as Oct 17, 1878 - Aged 4 years, 17 days. He was moved from another cemetery to Springhill, being brought to Springhill sometime around 1899/1900

Pape Mortuary Database has a "Child Converse", who was moved to Danville on 2/7/1900, and was removed from Mt. Hope Cemetery (not sure which Mt. Hope) - 1874-1877, age of 3.

Now I have a picture of the Headstone for Charles R. Converse, and the dates on the headstone are 1876-1880 [I'll upload the picture in a few days, I have gathered about 100 photo's for requests in the cemetery I'm organizing and will sit down and upload them all soon]

Anyway, I wanted to share what I found I'm not sure which information I would believe, so decided to share it all with you. Good Luck in your research.

Hi Claire,
I know I tried to figure out the burials before with the cemetery people but their records show what I put down. I don't remember if it was you that I had talked to a couple of years ago when we tried to get this straight.
It is funny that Fanny (Warren) Converse has those dates. There is no information found for a Warren Converse so he may be just another of the records screw ups. There are many burials with wrong information here.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Alan

Olive Morse
Hello Claire,

I've fulfilled your photo request for Olive Morse, located in the Bailey Cemetery, Lowell, Michigan. The cemetery is rather neglected, and it took nearly an hour to cut away to brush to get to the grave. Happily the 165-year-old tombstone is in good condition and quite legible.

You also requested any other Morse graves that could be located. I walked every row, but was unable to find any others. Of course they could be buried there with no tombstone.

Thanks,

Eddie

Hi Claire,

It's there for sure! .... The only reason I listed the record is because I found the headstone! All the records I added for that cemetery are because I "walked" the cemetery and found them and then listed them.

So Doris is wrong in this case or didn't look close enough .... because it was there in 2009. I live in Delaware and won't be back up there for a few months .... but I'll look when I go again.

:-)

Russ

You are welcome. There was one marker in the area that was hand-made but only the name "Nessie" was able to be made out. She didn't have a nickname, did she? No dates or anything else was visible. I don't think it is her but one never knows.
