RE: Abt/Callicott family
I want to be clear that I am not a relative. Burton was a wonderful, warm, well-loved man whom I did not meet until very late in his life, but I know several people who were his students and peers, I never met Mike. Burton talked about him, and he was quite famous locally, and even had some national repute for the parades he excelled at. When Burton came back from college with his degree, the great depression was at its worst, but Mike had funding, and was able to put Burton to work at a job where he had lots of scope to use his artistic skills and creativity. The Art Academy (now the College of Art) was in early days, so he started there as well. When I started contributing to Burton's memorial on FindaGrave, and researching, I first learned of Michael Abt. Believe me, if you go to sources such as periodicals and the Tennessee Encyclopedia of Arts and Culture, you will be fascinated. The next generation is just as fascinating, but in the interest of protecting the privacy of living persons, I will not go into it here.

I will happily accept management of either or both of the Abts, but honestly, if you enjoy research, you can do anything I can do, so should you decide to keep them, I will understand. I have not visited Mike's grave. Quite frankly, I make most of my contributions from my couch, or the driver's seat of my car, and Google, and now Duckduckgo are my primary cemeteries, so I don't even know if the Memorial Park mgt. will be co-operative. I think Elmwood would be helpful, if he were there, but if Mem Pk is making lots of money, and are busy and short-handed, they will probably tell you they can't help you. I've heard that some cemeteries even charge gravers for info, unless they are relatives. What a world.

relative of D.H. Lee
Hello Ms. Lee...I am the daughter of Dudley Horace Lee (his mother's name was Mrs. Minnie Lee). He passed in 1954 and I have been trying to find his relatives. If there is any information you could pass along to me, I would be most grateful. He died while I was a baby, so I never got to know him.
My email is Thank you so much in advance, Brenda Lee Borg (Tucker, GA)
