Antonia DeLeon photo request, Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma, CA
Hi there!

I saw your photo request for Antonia. However, there is already a memorial for her made a few years ago: Memorial # 106524713. If you submit the edits to this memorial, delete yours, and the resubmit your request for the original memorial, I will fulfill your request next weekend when I get up to the cemetery (it's an hour north of where I live, so I can't get up there sooner).

RE: Ed Smith
Lynda, Some early history I heard from a family who had a ranch near ours south of Turlock. Their grandfather had a ranch in the Fresno area. The story goes Joaquin Murietta burnt their ranch so they moved and started a family settlement on Bear Valley Road northeast of Hornitos. Joaquin didn't bother them there. The settlement carried the family name of Sanchezville.. His grandfather who was also a blacksmith made a large wrought iron arch with Sanchezville on it over his driveway. I saw the arch in the late 1940's. Different family members lived there for many years. After the family left and took the arch the people who moved in renamed it Quartzville or something like that but it was still Sanchezville to everyone else. Great motorcycle riding in that part of the country. Good luck with your research. Sounds like your following in Frank Latta's footsteps. Regards, Les

RE: Latta Family
Lynda, you are very welcome. I see I missed a few Latta's that are in the cemetery. Even though there isn't a headstone there is a grave so I take pictures of the grave site. I hope you like the way I took the pictures of Juan's grave site. Frank Latta's headstone was so large I had a time trying to get it all in the picture without getting too far from it. I prefere to take the pictures directly over the headstones. I would have needed a ladder. When I was in the cemetery office talking to Ken, the manager looking for Juan Murietta's grave site we talked about him being related to Joaquin. I'll have to let him know. Also about Frank Latta. That will give him bragging rights for famous people in the cemetery. Joaquin Murietta frequented Hornitos, CA. a small town east of Turlock where I have been through many times. Joaquin had a tunnel from one of the buildings to the other side of the road for an escape route. The Dalton Gang was in one of Frank's books. Bill Dalton is buried in the Turlock Memorial Park. He was buried there in the middle of the night by his in-laws from Livingston, CA. Best Regards, Les

Shoot, Lynda, I was just going to have you put a note in the photo's caption, but I can certainly tell you which ones to remove and I'll upload the originals. Thanks!

Hi, Lynda! I added the parental links you requested. Send me any other info you would like to add. I'm the volunteer who took the photos that you've used on your Finch memorials from Truce Cemetery. You can add the photo credit to the captions. I can send you a list of my photos if you've forgotten which ones. Thanks!
