Thank you to all the researchers who have told me that my work has helped them in some way. That is very important to me. I hope others who are able to take pictures and/or catalog cemeteries in the area where they live will do it. This is what this site is all about. Sharing with others who can't travel all over the country getting their family information.|
I love getting corrections, transfers, and link requests, but PLEASE DO IT FROM THE MEMORIAL PAGE as it is so much easier. It gives me all the info I need.....along with your request, of course! I will not do requests from the public message page. I am much too busy to look up the memorial to make the changes for you. DO ALL REQUESTS FROM THE 'EDIT' LINK ON THE INDIVIDUAL MEMORIAL PAGE!
Also, I've had quite a number of requests from people who think I also do free research. No, I don't. I take headstone photos and try to make sure cemeteries are complete and online. I have other hobbies. I don't do paid research either.
Happy Hunting, Kathy

|Kathy Bradbury-Alexander||RE: William Ellery Merris|
Ooops, you are right, William not baptized until 1756. Got my date wrong. Anyway, Julia Ann was born in 1818 in Ohio to Ellery and Abigail Bromley. She married Samuel Bradbury Nov. 3, 1836 in Morgan County, Illinois. She named one of her sons Stanton Merris Bradbury. My side is her 4th out of 5 sons, Charles M. Bradbury. Julia is buried in Canon City, Colorado. She originally died in Gothic City, Colorado in 1880 (reported in a diary by her daughter-in-law, Rachel Bradbury). Around 1882 she was moved to Canon City by her sons.
Which Merris sibling are you from? I saw also that you have Ellery's father as coming from Scotland. Where did you get that info.? My family info has them coming from England but so far, that is hearsay. I'm just now starting to dig into the Merriss family. By the way, do you know for sure if name is spelled Merris or Merriss like we have it? Thanks for you input.

Just a question on William Ellery Merris. Do you have documentation that his first name was William? From Baptism records he had an older brother William baptized 1753 and died when he was around 20 yrs. old. I've found nothing to indicate that they had another kid named William and Ellery was baptized Ellery. Thru my family records he was always known as Ellery (my gg gma, Julia ann, was Ellery's youngest daughter. If you have documentation, can you send me a copy?

Hell! Thank you so much for adding this photo. I live in Ohio and am planning a trip to North Carolina in mid-August.
Can you tell me where to find information/address for the Oak Grove African American Cemetery in Surry County?

Thanks for that

Thanks so much for the transfers of my family members' memorials. It truly means a lot to me. Thanks for everything you do for Find-a-Grave and for those of us interested in tracing our ancestors. Your work is appreciated.

Thanks. Yea, it's unusual. I traced her mother back to the 1850 census to verify her age. Her mother's brother, Quinton, apparently married, late in life, a woman twenty years older than he was. So it goes. Thanks for linking her to her parents.

I sent to you, via the edit tab on her memorial, links to her parents' memorials. I received a response from Find A Grave that the edit was declined as it would "remove accurate data". Given that her death certificate indicates that David Riley and Mary Shanklin are her parents I am curious as to why you would think that linking her memorial to theirs would remove accurate data. Hers is 68787444, her mother's is 42088424 in Orange county and her father's is 54818647 in Burke county. Please let me know why you have chosen not to link her to them.
Thank you so much for transferring the Evans family over to me and for taking and posting the photos. Have a great day !!!

Hello, are you related to this man or have info on him? He was my great, great, great grandfather and I wondering if not related could you transfer him to me? If related I would like more info on his family. please.

Thanks for the heads-up, Kathy. It only takes a few seconds to re-locate a memorial so I did. Errors/mistakes occur all the time and I am quick to remove any duplicates that I have made regardless of the issue. I strive to help others correct their errors also.
